I grew up in a small, coal mining community. A town where the locals knew your business before you did, and if your family weren’t farmers, they worked in one of the coal mines in the area. I was raised to be the perfect demographic of a voter who supports Trump.  While I am sincere when I say that not all of Trump’s ideas are awful (I honestly believe he is a decent businessman, and his stance on coal would be beneficial to many people I know and love) I mean it with all my being, though, when I say, he is not a person to be running this country.
When you are elected to be the leader of the United States of America, you are to do just that, lead. Quite frankly, I have yet to see any admirable leadership qualities in this man. The most accurate portrayal of Mr. Donald Trump is comparable to that of a middle school aged child. A child with a complex, attitude, and lack of compassion. The child who shoves the smaller kids into lockers, makes fun of girls who are late bloomers, and mocks the kids in class with disabilities. This may just sound like a middle school hallway, but the harsh reality is that these same occurrences are happening at Trump rallies.
As a woman, I don’t understand how any woman could support him. He sexualizes women, his own daughter at that, and has no shame in telling them “looks are everything.” I don’t want to have to have boobs exploding off my chest, or a face pretty enough to be in front of a camera to be told that I am capable of surviving in a man’s world. Trump is especially not the leader the youth of America needs. Girls already struggle with their image, they don’t need their president instilling in their minds at a young age that only “looks” will take them places.
But, this is not solely about disliking Trump. This is about how disgusted I am with what this country is becoming. Every day when I login to social media accounts, or check the news, there is always a story about Mr. Donald Trump. While some are mocking him, most are made in disbelief that a person could say or do half the things he does. The news stories that always seem to bother me the most though, are the ones about the crowds at these rallies. Â Never have I seen such small-minded, ignorant, hateful people than I have at one of these events. It bothers me to see who these people truly are. These people, who radiate hatred and call themselves patriotic, are what terrify me about the future of this country.
These are the same people who preach to me that all lives matter, even that of a child who has yet to leave it mother’s womb, but they don’t bat an eyelash in wishing ill on a person of a color other than white. The same people who tell someone they aren’t welcome because of their differing views, differing races, or differing opinions are the same who flock to the front rows of a pew Sunday morning. But then again, Satan did disguise himself as an angel of light. So forgive me, for standing against hate, for standing against oppression, for standing against racism, and for standing against Trump. But I refuse to support someone, who instills hatred on Americans, and has enough nerve to claim that this is the “change” America greatly needs.
