Happy Birthday to My Not-So-Little Sister

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

I am writing to you because I want you to know that I love you, Boo. These words aren’t always easy to say when we are around each other, but I promise you that I always have and I always will. I also wanted to give you another “happy birthday” on your actual birthday.

You have grown up so much over the years. So much that sometimes it is hard for me to remember what you used to be like. Yet, at the same time, you haven’t changed at all. You’re still the little girl that used to make mud pies and have lightsaber fights with me in the backyard.

I look back at everything you’ve done over the past few years and I can’t help but get a little teary eyed. You have already accomplished so much, and your life has hardly begun. In your 15 years, I’ve seen you set amazing goals and conquer them with ease. Just this past year, heck, even this past weekend, you have inspired me in ways I never thought a little sister could.

You’ve reached an age where you know what you love, and you do what you love. No one can tell you what to believe or think. You still try new things everyday and keep an open mind to the thoughts and feeling of others around you. I’d like to believe that I taught you how to do that, but in reality I know that you were the teacher there. I couldn’t be more grateful for that.

So, I wrote this piece to tell you 1. Happy Birthday, Boo and 2. Keep on inspiring. I wish I could have been with you today. This is the first year in 15 years that I haven’t been able to. I hope you realize that you are amazing and my favorite person in the world.

I miss you, happy birthday, and I love you. I hope 15 brings even more adventures and beautiful memories for you. I’ll see you soon!

Love always,

Hailee
