Name: Megan Lord
Major: Secondary Education/Social Studies with a concentration in History
Class Standing: Senior
Role in HC: TreasurerWhy did you join HC?
I joined because I had a blog of my own that I used to write on, but they kept getting deleted off of Facebook. I decided that I might as well get noticed for my writing, which is why I joined. Also, everyone could use more friends.
What do you love about HC?
I love the freedom of it. If I have an idea of something I want to write, no matter how weird it is, I can write it. I also love the little community that we have grown and how fun our meetings can be.
What’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve received?
Everyone’s finish line is different. It doesn’t matter when you finish or do something in your life, as long as you do it.
What fictional place would you most love to visit?
Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. It may be set in a real place, but some days I would love to escape to the hilarity of Michael Scott’s office.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would love the power to fly. Imagine all the places you could go and how much you would save on gas!
Are you usually early or late?
I’m usually so early that it’s awkward. I live incredibly close to campus and I still leave 20 minutes early to make sure I’m ready. It cancels out my mom’s late nature.
Favorite college course so far?
I have loved most of my education courses so far and it is so hard to pick a favorite history one as well. I’ll say this; my favorite education course is either EDST 3000 or EDSE 4273, and my favorite history course was a Holocaust remembrance course that I took at Western Wyoming Community College.
What’s your typical restaurant order?
Any thing with fries. I love both regular and sweet potato fries.
What is your favorite show to binge watch?
I’m currently re-watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I’ve done the same to The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Shameless.
Where is your favorite place?
Anywhere that my fiance and my dog are.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Married, loving teaching, in a nice house, and maybe with a few kids. Definitely filling the house with dogs and the outside with horses.
What is one item you cannot live without and why?
That’s a tough question. I would have to say my phone right now, as it is the only connection to the important people in my life.
Favorite Food?
Mostly burgers or chicken wings, and of course with fries.
What is one thing about college that you wish you knew before you got here?
I wish I knew how much I would miss the closeness of a community college before going to a university. I miss the professors I got to know so well.
Why should someone join HC?
I would say if you blog, enjoy snacks, or like making new friends, you should come check it out.
