So it is finally the first week of school, despite many unknowns! I am so excited to be back on campus and to at least be back in my college city. The summer was fantastic, as I was able to spend the majority of it outside doing my wonderful job as a gardener. It was a good summer of hanging out with my friends (only 3 of us) and learning so many more flower names.

Of course, as I am sure is the case for most of you, me as well as many people have their classes online at least for now. Many of my friends only have classes online. Although it seems that once campus attempts to open I may not have all of mine online and a couple of them at least in person. Already I have dealt with internet problems, and I’m sure there are more to come. Things could be worse, but zoom is certainly not ideal. Many professors are being very flexible and understanding, which is always greatly appreciated. Despite technical difficulties, it is wonderful to see my professors and fellow students.

Things are still a bit strange here though. You wear a face mask everywhere you go, you do not go out as much, and you mainly hang out with your friends at their houses. I hope things will begin to have a bit of a normal feel soon, although it does pay off to be patient and go with the flow. I am doubtful about having in-person classes, which would help the normalcy, as many universities that have tried in-person classes are now closed again. I hope this is not the case with the University of Wyoming, but only time will tell. Either way, I appreciate all the work that has gone into making in-person classes at least a half-way reality.

I hope you all enjoy the semester, keep your heads up high, and keep reading funny memes! Stay safe y’all!

I am the current co-correspondent of the University of Wyoming! I spend my time reading lots of historical information, cooking, going out with my friends, and eating ice cream. I am a history major and my plans are to attend grad school to be a public librarian!
