Ugh, another day – another outfit. The thought of getting out of bed and trekking to class is daunting enough. Sure the t-shirt that you slept in will do, but maybe you want to look a little cuter. It’s a pain to dig through your closet trying to find a decent outfit for the day, and it can take forever. Luckily, there are a few ways to help smooth this process over!

Have go-to outfits in mind. Consider having an “inspiration board” or a few pictures of your own outfits hanging in your closet. If you get a lot of compliments on an outfit, snap a pic and keep it for a later date. Collect pictures of your favorite celebrity’s street style. Use Polyvore to layout cute looks online. I created the outfits featured in this article for you using their software, and I am addicted!

Do a little prep work. Check the weather for the week ahead of time. Is it going to be chilly, rainy, or sunny most of the time this week? Knowing beforehand instead of checking each morning will save you a little time. Also, look over your schedule for the week. Any important days? If you know that you have a presentation on Wednesday, you can plan ahead.

Lay out your clothes the night before. I know, I know. We’ve heard it a thousand times from our moms, magazines, and blogs. We’re sick of hearing it. Just try it for a week! You might find that you like using those extra 5 minutes getting your eyeliner perfect or drinking your coffee a little slower. It can be so nice to slide out of bed and throw on what you know will look good for the day.
Â
Use the KISS method. “Keep it simple, stupid.” This applies to many areas of life; but in this case, using it to get dressed can be really helpful. Stock your closet with high-quality staple pieces and cheaper fun accessories. Pick a basic outfit and throw on interesting accessories to make it your own unique style! This also gives you more ways to wear a piece of clothing. How many ways can you think to wear black jeans versus neon pink polka dot jeans?

Organize your sh*t. It’s hard…I get it! As easy as it to keep your closet looking like a tornado just blew through, having an orderly place to store your clothing can streamline the process of putting together clothes. Hang your clothes up. Keep your shoes together. Separate your jewelry. When you can see everything, it’s much faster to decide what you’ll grab.
