Summer break is right around the corner! It’s time for unplanned roadtrips and late nights out with friends. There will be plenty of Instagram posts and Snapchats to document the adventures, but what’s a summer break without a soundtrack to reminisce on? Months from now, when the days seem shorter and the air is colder you will hear a song and think of the fun times you had over break. If you haven’t already created a playlist, don’t worry there’s still time! Plus, it’s more of an add as you go thing. Here’s a few songs and albums I’ll be adding to kick off my summer ’17 playlist!Â

Khalidâs soulful voice will have you in your feelings with this one. The 19-year-old Texan debuted his album âAmerican Teenâ last month where he depicted his experiences as a teenager having fun, making stupid decisions, and, of course, falling in and out of love.
Khalid will be performing after UABâs Spring Fest this Saturday, April 22! Admission is free for students with your OneCard. You donât want to miss it!
More Life
He had us going all summer â16⊠ and he might be back for round two. Drakeâs latest album is filled with something for everyone. He gives us some island vibes for lounging on the beach, along with turn up tracks for those spontaneous summer nights out. You honestly canât go wrong with this album, plus how else are you going to find your next instagram caption? When in doubt, Drake it out!
Slide
Calvin Harris possibly dropped one of the hottest songs for this spring and summer. First off, this California funk track features Frank Ocean and Migos (insert fire flame emojis)! I didnât know I needed this collaboration, but I definitely did! This song is perfect for a “driving with the windows-down” Â kind of day!
Shape of You
Ed Sheeranâs mix of dancehall gone pop is still topping the charts after its January release. The tune is so catchy! This is the song you skip to even though your playlist is supposed to be on shuffle.Â
Stay
If youâre more into electropop then you will probably like this one. Zedd collaborated with Alessia Cara on this track to bring a nice emotional twist to the song. Although at first listen it seems like just another catchy radio hit, Caraâs vocals will definitely have you reminiscing.
Culture
The most popular group out right now is probably Migos. Between dropping their own songs and doing features on others, they’re all over the charts. Their latest album “Culture” will have any summer party lit. I know I can’t resist a good Migos sing-a-long!Â
