HC UBC’s Ways To Deal With Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

Stress and learning to deal with your stress is a huge part of your university life. With all the exams, papers, assignments, projects, etc, that students have to complete, along with all the other parts of their lives that they deal with, stress can come from anywhere and everywhere. Learning to come into terms with your stress and finding ways to help cope with it is very important.

Here are some ways HC UBC deals with their stress:

1. “The way I cope with stress from school is by taking some time out and doing things I like, e.g. buy myself my favorite food, go to salon or shopping. I am also really into sports, so working out helps me a lot in feeling relieved. Whenever I am overwhelmed, I prioritize and stick to one assignment at a time instead of trying to do all of them at once.”

2. “I destress by taking a break from studying and treating myself to some delicious snacks or make my favourite desserts while catching up on my favourite TV shows.”

3. “I destress by taking a deep breath, praying, than planning out everything I need to do and when I’m going to do it. I also find that putting on a face mask in the evening and laying in bed for awhile is very soothing!”

4. “I always call or meet up with a close friend and tell them everything and then we usually go out and eat something really good together.”

5. “I think destress by just taking a nap. I found that some of my stress was coming from a lack of sleep. It’s really nice to get into comfy clothes and just take a good nap or sleep early.”

Make sure you take care of your mental health and find ways to deal with and relieve stress!
