Midterm season is in full-swing now here at Berkeley, so of course I’m coping (and ignoring my growing sense of impending doom) through watching a few movies! Today I’m going to talk about… drum roll please… Do Revenge

Am I late to the game? Kind of… but if you’re like me and haven’t watched it yet, you totally should! Also kinda minor small spoilers ahead so beware!

The movie gave me a reimagined Gen-Z-ified early 2000’s movie vibe. An updated Mean Girls meets 10 Things I Hate About You meets Clueless kind of deal. From their school uniforms to the silly little makeover montage and paintball scene, my nine year-old self was screaming. Just so so so many hidden easter eggs as well. And the music just seals the deal with a big satisfying bow with artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Hole, Phoebe Bridgers, and The Cranberries.

I should probably mention that the show also features an all-star cast with familiar faces such as Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), and Austin Abrams (Euphoria). Netflix really brought out every single familiar Gen-Z face it could.

I went into the movie not knowing what to expect, so I encourage you to do the same. It was easy to follow along with many funny, sad, angry, and surprising moments! And cringe-warning in case it wasn’t obvious enough already. But corny movies aren’t not thaaaat bad. I will say to enjoy the movie (and its ending) you have to play along with how outrageous everything is.

But in case you want a little (and I mean extremely brief) rundown…

After Drea (Camila Mendes) gets her sex tape leaked, she teams up with Eleanor (Maya Hawke). They trauma dump to one another to team up and do each other’s revenge before the school year ends, hence the title!

Oh, and I rate it 4 stars out of 5! Really not a bad movie at all (in my opinion at least).

So yeah, take a break and watch a movie! It doesn’t have to be this one in particular, just make sure you’re taking time to let your brain relax. Good luck everyone!! :)))

Hello! I'm a second-year studying data science, but in my free time I enjoy crocheting and binge-watching television shows. If you're reading this I hope you're having a great day!
