Although it may be a bit early, I love getting ready for the holidays as soon as possible to get rid of midterm stress and finals anxiety. Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate the holidays.Â
Decorate your Dorm for the Holidays
One of the first things I do every year is decorate my room for the holidays. Since most stores already put out their holiday decorations, it’s never too early to start decorating, so take out those Christmas lights, and even decorate a small Christmas tree if you can find one! If you’re on a budget, you can also make some cute and nostalgic DIY snowflakes with pieces of white paper to put around your room.Â
Make a Gingerbread House
Although mine usually falls apart a couple of minutes after I make it, I love making gingerbread houses during the holiday season. You can also make other sweet holiday treats if you don’t enjoy gingerbread houses.Â
Watch Holiday Movies
Watching holiday movies is one of my favorite traditions during the wintertime and never fails to make me excited for the holidays. Some of my favorites are Home Alone, Elf and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town. You can also grab some hot cocoa while watching the movie to make it extra festive!
Go to an Amusement Park
By the end of November, many amusement parks have their holiday decorations and celebrations up and running. For those in Berkeley, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has their Holiday in the Park events starting November 26th, which was super fun when I went before the pandemic. Other amusement parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios also have holiday events featuring festive food, lights, and other attractions which are perfect for getting you into the holiday spirit!Â
I hope this list helped you brainstorm how to get ready for the holiday season this year!Â
