BEAUTY PRODUCTS TIKTOK INFLUENCED ME TO BUY

I’ve been an avid TikTok user since 2019. I’ve seen how it has changed from being a dance and lip syncing app to becoming a site of citizen journalism amidst recent protests. Of the various phases TikTok has gone through, I have to say one of my favorites is the prominence of product reviews and recommendations on the app. Particularly, I’ve been influenced to purchase and try out new skincare and makeup products. Here’s my top five beauty products I bought because of TikTok.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

At first glance, a $24 lip product seemed pretty costly, and I didn’t understand the hype. After seeing so many Get Ready with Me (GRWM) videos using this product, I caved and purchased it in the “pink sugar” shade. Immediately after applying it, my lips were glossy and I smelled a sweet scent that reminded me of cookies. Now, I have three of the balms total, and I’m waiting to buy a fourth one in their new shade “iced coffee.”

Essence Lash princess false lash effect mascara

This Essence mascara went viral a couple years ago, but it still remains one of my favorite mascaras. I’ve never found it to be clumpy, and it doesn’t seem to dry out. Although it’s a drugstore brand and priced relatively low compared to other products, I think the quality and quantity is worth it. It has kept my lashes lifted throughout the day and always boosts my confidence when I wear it.

Sol de janeiro brazilian crush cheirosa ’62

When I first heard that this fragrance mist contained pistachio and salted caramel notes, I wasn’t convinced that it would smell the best. Yet, the combination truly works. It’s one of my favorite scents that I’ve worn, and it lasts me a few hours every time I apply it. The entire brand tends to resurface every couple months on TikTok, which only makes me want to try out all the other scents and products.

Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly Gloss

When I saw the Tower 28 glosses go viral, I knew I had to try them. All I have to say is that they didn’t disappoint. These glosses don’t feel sticky and last me several hours. The application is smooth and the colors make my lips pop. I highly recommend starting off trying the “pistachio” shade โ€” one of the most popular and more neutral toned ones โ€” if you’re overwhelmed by which shade to buy!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum

When I first started getting into skincare, this serum was one of the first products I tried. Almost six years later, it remains a daily staple product in my skincare routine. Priced lower than its competitors, the product is worth it because lasts several months, in my experience, even after daily use. It helps control oil and buildup, which is great for acne prone skin.

If you’re looking for a new product to add to your skincare or makeup routine or are hesitant about purchasing any of the products mentioned, I highly recommend giving them a try. These products offer great quality and quantity. After all, they went viral on TikTok for a reason!
