School is back in full swing and it’s easy to fall out of the routine of taking care of yourself– or maybe there wasn’t a routine because summer is so much easier than school that you don’t need a self-care checklist. But now, everything is moving quickly again and with all that we have to focus on it’s difficult to focus on the most important aspect of your life–yourself. Goals are only necessary if you feel like they will make your life better, and if they will make you feel more successful. My three daily items that I had to complete daily for last semester were; Finish School Work/study, Exercise, and study.
This semester is the time to take things up a notch; in lieu of the sophomore slump, it’s going to be a lot easier to not try to take care of myself mentally and physically. As a good friend told me this week, we’ve worked our whole life to get into a good college, now what? While this mindset has been frequent in my life-and throughout my friend group-for the past few weeks, I’ve been fighting against this sort of stuck-ness and I plan to fully enjoy this year as I let parts of last year be more negative and less hopeful than I want my personality to be.
I’ve made a checklist of all of the things I want to accomplish a day to keep my positivity levels high this semester:
Self Care Checklist: Today I…
Worked out
Met/Talked to a Friend
Read Something
Complimented Someone
Took Time off of social media
Took time for myself
Wrote Something
Ate Healthy
Put on lotion
Drank 2 liters of water
Wrote Something
Meditated
Had my coffee
Went Outside
Did something Adventurous
Having a list of things to tackle every day outside of school has been keeping me focused on myself and my well being, and it has also made me focus more on my friends and making sure they are taken care of as well.
Here’s to a healthy, happy semester full of thriving individuals!
