According to a campus crime alert, a woman was kidnapped on campus last Thursday night. The kidnapping occurred at about 6 p.m. Shortly after, she was driven to an unknown location and was sexually assaulted. On Friday morning, the police located the victim. As of now, the police are still investigating the case and have not released any information on the suspect. UCPD (University of California Police) has noted that this has been the seventh sexual assault of the year, a slight increase from last year. A campus crime alert has been sent out.
Tips on remaining safe
1) Don’t stay out too late. If you do, make sure to be with a buddy.
2) Let others know about your whereabouts. Be aware of your own surroundings.
3) Try to walk through areas with more foot traffic during the night.
4) Use free campus night safety services like the night shuttle or Bear Walk!
