A year ago, Harry Styles released his third album titled Harry’s House. If you’re a die-hard fan like me, then you’ve probably had the 13-track album on constant rotation for the last year, rightfully making being completely in love with Harry’s House my only personality trait. This album is rightfully topping the charts, and in my opinion, it’s Harry’s best to date (so, if you’re looking for Harry slander, you’ve come to the wrong place). Only hot people like Harry Styles, so if you don’t, then please take some time for self-reflection. After listening to Harry’s House an unhealthy amount of times, I’ve concluded that there are no skips on this album. With every listen, I feel like I have a new favorite song. When attempting to rank my current top five songs on the album, this task has proven to be very stressful for me. It’s like trying to pick your favorite kid when you love them all for different reasons. However, difficult decisions had to be made. Therefore, based on my current mood, these are my top five essential tracks from Harry’s House, in no particular order.
It was a great decision to make this the first track on the album. The energy this song gives off is infectious. On my first listen to this song, it felt like suddenly all my worries had vanished and my skin had cleared up. My body was overflowing with serotonin. This upbeat song makes me feel like I’m living my best life as the main character in a show. It’s not a Harry Styles album if there are no horns, and the instruments elevate this song to another level. This is my anthem for the summer.
This song gives the coolest and carefree vibes. I associate this song with a fun night out where everyone is dancing at a party like no one is watching. I can not stay in my seat when this song comes on. Cinema is so groovy and, dare I say, sexy. The first time I heard the line “You pop when we get intimate” my mouth dropped to the floor.
I see Satellite as a song for those that give more love and support than they get in return. Those that always comfort others and radiate positivity, even when they are secretly struggling themselves. I feel like I relate to this song the most. It starts slow and heartfelt but then a happy beat kicks in. It’s a great combination of being in your feelings and vibing simultaneously. It’s like a dancing-with-tears-in-your-eyes moment and I’m living for it.
The falsettos, adlibs, and runs in this song are the best part. Harry’s vocals are on another level and he really showcases his range. This song is the definition of groovy. I’ve never been in love (unless you count fictional characters), but this song is how I imagine it feels like. It sounds so ethereal and makes me feel as if I’m floating.
This is a fun love song that seamlessly fits into the album. This is one of those songs that I want to sing at the top of my lungs with the windows down on a late-night drive. When Harry sang “If you’re feeling down, I just wanna make you happier, baby” it gave me so much comfort and happiness, as if it was said directly to me. Suddenly, I have the energy to make it through the rest of the school year.
Before you ask for justice for Matilda and Little Freak, I’m not ready to unpack the emotional damage that those songs have caused me yet. I’m still recovering. I understand that this ranking may be controversial. Do I feel like a monster for ranking these songs? Yes, I do. However, that’s a testament to Harry Styles for making Harry’s House so good that it is almost unrankable. When I have a different top five next week, please don’t question it. Whatever your favorite songs may be, we can all enjoy this album for the masterpiece that it is.
