I’ve been told many times that Seattle is a depressing, cold, and compact city. Last weekend, I put this stereotype to the test and was happily surprised to discover how untrue it is. This article is dedicated to the adventurers and adrenaline junkies who refuse to settle on a quiet day at home. I’m going to take you on my own tour through the hidden gems of Seattle. First, let me establish my own credibility before I begin suggesting these versatile restaurants and attractions. My four best friends from high school moved to Seattle for college and have been living there for the past year and a half. My exploration across the city consisted of their company and knowledge of the city.
The first site I will take you to on this tour is the Laser Dome at the Pacific Science Center. This attraction is the closest you can get to a rave without the jumping and lack of personal space. Instead, you can enjoy lying down in a giant room while looking up at an IMAX screen. Every night, the Laser Dome has different shows with varying types of music. The show we attended was the EDM laser show. As we laid on our backs, the “laser DJ” blasted our favorite EDM tracks, accompanied by laser lights blasting to the beat of the music. This hour long show was an unforgettable experience.

The next site I will take you to on this tour is hot cakes. No, they are not your typical cakes; they are actually fresh dark chocolate lava cakes. They are presented to you on a lovely, long wooden dish with a scoop of ice cream. Although this dessert shop is a bit pricey, it is worth it for the rich, warm lava cake. It is also the perfect place for pictures, as the inside is extremely modern and aesthetic.

Finally, I will take you to the University of Washington. This site is not as hidden as the other two places I mentioned. However, it is a beautiful campus with a mixture of old and new architecture. If you are interested in photography, this is the perfect place for you. I suggest visiting in the April so you can also photograph the Cherry Blossom trees. Make sure to check out the main brick quad and the infamous “Harry Potter Library.” Although the library is called that, it has no affiliation with Harry Potter other than the fact that is has a similar look.

If you ever do find yourself lost or bored in Seattle, please take my advice and visit these three places. I promise you will not be disappointed.
