For music lovers, April in Southern California, especially here in the Inland Empire, is often associated with the Coachella Music Festival. The festival brings over 150 artists to the area, and some of them have concerts in the area on the way in/out of the IE, or between the two weekends of Coachella. Concert and festival company, Goldenvoice, has curated concerts throughout the state, featuring many of the musicians performing at Coachella this year. The month-long event known as “April ‘23” has established Pomona as one of the SoCal cities hosting many of this year’s top artists.
The nine Pomona concerts are located at two venues just one block away from each other: The Glass House and the Fox Theater Pomona. The venues are about a half an hour drive away from campus, and also easily accessible by Metrolink, making them a great option for a night out after a day of classes. Additionally, the intimate venues are perfect for seeing your favorite artists up close, not to mention tickets are more affordable than attending Coachella.
The series starts on April 12, 2023 with indie rock supergroup, Boygenius, who recently released their first studio album titled, the record. The next day, The Linda Lindas open for The Breeders at the Glass House on April 13. On the same evening, Remi Wolf takes the Fox Pomona with support from Lava La Rue. The concerts pick up again on April 17 with FKJ at the Fox Pomona, followed by Gabriels on April 18 at the Glass House. On April 19, Ethel Cain takes the Glass House while Willow and Yves Tumor take the Fox Pomona. Finally, on April 20, MUNA will perform at the Glass House and Big Wild and Elderbrook have a show with support from Durante at the Fox Theater Pomona.
The “April ‘23” lineup consists of dozens of other concerts located from San Diego to the Bay, with many in Los Angeles. The complete lineup is available on Goldenvoice’s website, which also provides links to purchase tickets.
