3 Easy to Make Thanksgiving Gifts!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Thanksgiving is a time to rejoice and come together in unity to celebrate our blessings this past year, and to give thanks to our loved ones because they most definitely deserve it.  it comes the time to give thanks to our loved ones for they most definitely deserve it. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, here are three easy to make gifts to show our appreciation to the ones we love!

1. Autumn Leaf Mason Jar

All you need is the following:

  • Leaves (real or fake)

  • Mason jar

  • Scented candle

  • Glue

  • Water

  • Small bowl

  • Spoon (one that you don’t mind using for arts and crafts)

  • Paintbrush

First, in the small bowl pour in some glue and mix it with a little bit of water, but not too much; we don’t want the consistency to be too runny.

Next, using the paintbrush, apply the paste all throughout the inside of the jar.

Then, stick the leaves inside and press against them in order to make sure they don’t peel off, and let the leaves dry and set

Finally, place the scented candle inside and you’re all done!

Optionally, you can tie a ribbon or a cute piece of string around the top

2. Turkey Treat Bucket

All you need is the following:

  • Brown bucket (as big as you want, but preferably a small one)

  • Assorted feathers

  • Adhesive craft foam

  • Googly eyes

  • Glue

  • Paper

  • Scissors

  • Candy (of any sort, but try to go for some orange, yellow, and red candies!)

First, run a line of glue around the edge of the bucket and place some feathers, then wait for it to dry and set.

Next, glue the googly eyes on and cut out a beak and a snood (that weird thing under the turkey’s throat) and stick it onto the front of the bucket.

Then, put as much candy as you want!

Finally, write a cute personal little letter thanking the person for everything they have done and place it in the bucket, and you’re done!

3. Turkey Rice Krispie Treats

All you need is the following:

  • Rice Krispie treats

  • Small Reese’s Cups

  • Starbursts

  • Icing

  • Food coloring

  • Small circular-shaped sprinkles

  • Lollipop sticks

  • Piping bag (if you don’t have one, you can easily cut the tip of a Ziploc bag)

  • Wax paper

  • Rolling pin

  • Knife

First, insert a lollipop stick inside a Rice Krispie treat.

Next, add some icing onto the front of the Rice Krispie and stick a Reese’s Cup on it.

Then, add two dots of icing and two black sprinkles for the eyes.

Then, add some yellow food coloring to the icing and pipe the beak and feet.

Then, unwrap three (red, yellow, orange) starbursts and place them in the microwave on their wrappers for 8 seconds.

Then, lightly dampen the wax paper and roller with water (so the candy doesn’t stick) and roll out the starbursts.

Then, with a knife cut out the Starbursts into the shape of feathers.

Then, attach the feathers onto the Rice Krispie.

Finally, using a piece of the leftover red Starburst, roll it into a little snood for the turkey and you’re done!
