The most exciting day of the week has come and gone (probably already, since I’m not sure when this will be published). WEDNESDAY, New Comic Book Wednesday, that is. It’s the most exciting, spectacular, promising day of the week! It’s the day when I start doing my how-much-money-can-I-spend-on-comic-books math and it never seems to be enough! SO here I go again, back to my random dribble that seems to only reach the comic book reading readers (if you’re not one, consider it. Could be fun!).

Last week marked the end of my journey reading The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys written by Gerard Way and although the end of the comic books took me back to the end of his band, My Chemical Romance, it was a great finale. I won’t spoil it too much but it is certainly worth the read. What I will say about it is that it is filled with tear-provoking screaming colors, coordinated porno droids, a slightly confused (on his sexuality) villain and junkie-punk wannabe heroes. It’s fantastic! All six issues are out now; if you can’t find them in a store near you then www.tfaw.com has what you need.

My recent endeavors have involved a comic book store and a certain amount of free time. Now that one of my favorite series is done I had to be on the lookout for possible potentials! Of course, that didn’t take very long.

Coffin Hill:  This is the first comic I’ve read in a while that has metaphorically grabbed me by the shirt and pulled me in. Coffin Hill is about a punk rock group of friends that goes into the woods of their home town to do a little bit of magic and practice their craft of necromancy when it all goes totally wrong. The entire group of friends is challenged by things that haunt them post-woods experience. Eve Coffin, the main character, battles stereotypes all while trying to figure out how to help her friends and basically save the  scummy little town of Coffin Hills.  Eve Coffin is a decedent of witches that date back to the Salem trials, she’s referred to as the “wicked witch” but is a kick-ass cop who is working the investigation of what really happened the night her and her friends messed around in the woods.
