The Superheroes Vs. The Supernatural

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Television seems to be growing more so interesting for people like me; because I’m the type of person that is both:

 a) super geeky

 b) really into sh*t that’s not real.

And if you’re also really a) & b) then T.V is building up to be you’re evening entertainment. Let me assure you, there are some series out there that will suit your needs, my (equally geeky) friends. But as I sit in my apartment every evening, watching my T.V. shows on my laptop, I can’t help but to compare the two types of shows that I tend to watch (because I’m not the type of person that can enjoy anything without analyzing it).

So here are some of my favorites that you may also like (be warned: these shows can be super lame at times):

Superheroes:

  1. Arrow: Oliver Queen gets stranded on an island after his father’s boat drowns mid-journey. On this island, he learns that life isn’t about the stupid trivial things he thought he needed while he was at home. During his time on the island, Oliver uncovers secrets about his family’s affairs within the city that they live in.

Wednesdays at 8/7c on CW.

  1. Marvel’s Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Although not really super, they are heroes. A group of highly skilled agents come together to form the organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. The organization travels around the world ridding it of every nasty and unworthy.

Tuesdays 8/7c on ABC.

Supernatural:

  1. Sleepy Hollow: A war hero from the 18th century has been revived into modern times to help a local Sleepy Hollow police woman, defeat a particular demon from his past. While doing so they become great friends and learn  a lot about their intertwined destinies.

Mondays at 9/8c on FOX.

  1. Dracula: Dracula returns centuries after his death to avenge his mortality and his beloved’s death. His alias is American entrepreneur Alexander Grayson. In his journey for revenge, there is only one thing that could possibly get in the way and that is a woman who he believes to be the reincarnation of his wife.

Fridays at 10/9c on NBC.

  1. The Walking Dead: Zombie Apocalpyse. What more do you really need to know?

Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.

  1. Supernatural: Sam and Dean are two brothers on a journey to find their mother’s killer, along the journey they uncover lots of lost information about both their parent’s lives. They also kick major supernatural ass.

Tuesdays at 9/8c on CW.

  1. Witches of East End: Two sisters start to notice something odd about their family when their aunt comes to visit. Their mom is forced to come out with secrets she’s been hiding for centuries. Now that they know about their past, they must fight all that comes their way to protect their secrets. Nothing will ever be the same! (Dun Dun Dun)

Sundays 10/9c on Lifetime.

I think the list speaks for itself. The Supernatural has won me over (always will). Decipher for yourself. If you have any recommendations we’d love to hear about them!
