The Top 5 (Mid-Season) Television Shows, You Should Be Watching!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Summer time is coming around, which means some of our favorite television shows are going on hiatus. But no worries I’ve made a list of shows you should watch in the meantime (in no particular order.)

1.  Awkward

Awkward stars Jenna Hamilton, a teenager whose life changes after a cruel letter arrives at her front door. Awkward has created some of the craziest, b*tchiest, and most awkward characters on television now. Whether its Jenna’s kooky guidance counselor, Valerie or her love interest the beautiful Matty McKibben. Awkward will reel you in with its lovely take on the awkwardness of high school, love, and how at the end of the day it’s okay to laugh at yourself!

Come on guys Jake wants you to watch

I love you, too

Ooooh, Whats happening here, watch, and you can find out

2.   Teen Wolf

Also on MTV, if you enjoy sexy ripped men that sometimes turn into animals, thaen this is definitely the show for you! A modern twist on the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox, Teen Wolf looks at the life and tribulations of High Schooler Scott McCall who becomes a werewolf after a wolf bite. With the help of his hilarious best friend Stiles played by the beautiful Dylan O’ Brien. Look at him! Who wouldn’t be seduced by that breathtaking smile or those gorgeous hazel eyes that seem to penetrate your soul and make you question everything you ever loved.

Wait, what was I talking about again… oh right, if you enjoy action, mythical creatures, and of course love, then this is the show for you! Also there’s this:

And this

And this

And one more

Ok one more but that’s it

Swoon…

3.  True blood

Based on the highly successful book series by Charlaine Harris. Set in a fictional town in Lousiana, True Blood stars Sookie Stackhouse a telepathic waitress. Thanks, to an alternative blood supplement vampires roam freely throughout the world and soon Sookie finds herself joined by them. This show is not for the faint of heart. So if you can’t handle blood and very sexy situations (because these people have sex a lot, like a lot. It is HBO!) then this show might not be for you. But give it a try because it will definitely be worth it! Also did I mention the shirtless men?

No Alcide don’t stop…

Oh someone fan me!

4.  Arrested Development

The cancelled before its time, critical beloved television series narrated by Ron Howard comes back this May with all new episodes, thanks to Netflix! Featuring the hilarious unconventional Bluth family, Michael Bluth has to keep the family together after his father is jailed. By far one of the funniest television programs in my opinion, Arrested Development is willing to do just about anything. It also features a young Michael Cera, most well known from his role in Superbad.

5. The Newsroom

If you’re looking for something a little more serious, that will really get you thinking and where you might learn something, then look no further than Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. This series takes a behind-the-scenes look at a fictionalized cable news program called News Night. In times where cable news seem to be setting their own agenda, News Night intends to inform viewers with no strings attached. Of course there is drama, a little comedy, and most importantly heart.
