12 Times Lin-Manuel Miranda Was Inspirational AF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

In the last couple of years, it has been nearly impossible to escape the ubiquity of the cultural phenomenon known as Hamilton: An American Musical. Its creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, quickly became a household name following the musical’s massive success.

His fame, however, precedes Hamilton, as he’s worked on other musical projects like In the Heights and his improv rap group Freestyle Love Supreme. He’s also appeared in guest spots on several television shows. Despite the new attention that Hamilton affords him, Miranda maintains a relentlessly upbeat attitude, shows constant gratitude, continues to work hard, and imparts astute wisdom to his supporters.

These 12 (ish) “moments” barely scratch the surface when it comes to capturing the kind and humble person that he is:

1. When he dedicated his 2016 Tony acceptance speech to his wife and those affected by the Orlando shooting (in a sonnet, no less)

2. When he spoke out in support of immigrants and minority groups

3. When he reminded us that in order to succeed, it’s important for us to believe in our own potential
