If you’re anything like me, you forget how to study over the summer. Although I’m now a second-year at UC Davis, I still haven’t gotten the hang of the quarter system and how quickly the next three months of fall quarter are about to fly by. To stay on top of my classwork, I tried a new tactic: the world of study vloggers and university students on YouTube. Whether it’s a “day in the life” of a student at the University of Florida or a 10-hour study session with an Imperial College London student, I find that these kinds of videos make studying less daunting. They can also be a great resource for building daily routines or finding cute academic planners. Here are four Study YouTubers to check out before your next midterm!
Clarisse is a student based in Montreal, Canada with 102k subscribers. If you’re looking for an account that posts more often, this could be for you. With about 4-6 videos per month, Clarisse’s content is always up-to-date. A recent video, “getting back into a productive routine for summer,” is exactly what you might need for inspiration this week. One of my favorite videos, however, is a walkthrough of Notion, a software designed for organization and productivity.
One of the most famous study accounts around, studyquill has 1.15 million subscribers and is run by a UCLA student named Jasmine (so if you’re looking for quarter system advice, she’s got it!). While her content is incredibly thorough and diverse, she hasn’t posted in about six months. Still, her stationery and school supplies recommendations are pretty timeless. She also has calligraphy tutorials. If you like bullet journaling, studyquill is definitely the right aesthetic for you! Check out her cute and extensive stationery collection:
Breanna Quan is currently a pharmacy school candidate with 645k subscribers. Her study vlogs make up the majority of her channel, which are cute videos that follow the day-to-day routines of a functioning student. She also has other lifestyle content like beauty tutorials and gym vlogs. If you want a realistic portrayal of a hard-working student, but still love a little romanticization of homework, Breanna’s vlogs are the ones for you. See how she studies for midterms:
Deborah is a sophomore at the University of Washington. Her channel, dobochobo, has 406k subscribers. Her content leans more towards life as a student as opposed to hard studycore, but that’s part of why her channel is so special. With gorgeous editing and a dreamy, colorful aesthetic, Deborah’s videos are lively and authentic. She focuses on pushing herself outside her comfort zone and is certain to push you towards the same. Her study abroad vlogs like this one are informative, documenting her time studying in Italy, as well as what it can be like to spend days on your own.
Located all over the world, study YouTubers offer insight into the vastly different lives, study materials, and schools of other students. At the same time, these accounts and many more have offered me a sense of comfort. I’m reminded that I’m not alone in my pursuit of good grades and a balanced lifestyle. It’s always stressful to return to school, but these channels can help make your days feel much more manageable as you find the right routines for you!
