5 Wearable Trends on the NYFW Runway

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

The beginning of September is important to many bloggers, fashionistas, celebrities, and designers for one reason: New York Fashion Week. NYFW is essentially a sneak peek as to what’s going to be trendy this Fall, and I’m here to share some trends that are cool and edgy on the runway, but also wearable on campus.

Statement Furs

Just when we thought fur jackets/coats were a thing of the past, Michael Kors and  J. Crew reaffirmed that furs are here to stay this season. You can pick up a faux fur coat at stores like H&M or online at ASOS.

Ruffles

We saw ruffles from designers like Christian Siriano on the runway, but I’m convinced that the person who brought back this trend was Barb from Stranger Things (totally kidding, but also not).

Shearling Bombers

The bomber jacket trend was huge this year, and now designers like Altuzarra are fine tuning this trend so that it carries over into the fall by adding on a shearling collar.

T-Shirts and Turtlenecks Under Dresses

Tory Burch had turtlenecks under dresses in her Fall 2016 show, and I love this trend because it reminds me of how my mom used to dress me as a kid. Some 90’s nostalgia coming your way again this season.

Chokers

This trend has been all over this year, which is why there was no surprise that it showed up on the runway this fall. Everyone’s been going crazy about this 90’s trend, and instead of the tattoo choker for the fall, now we can look to warmer materials, like velvet and knit.

These kind of chokers can be found at: Topshop, Zara, Urban Outfitters, and Brandy Melville. This velvet one is from ASOS.
