Bathing Suits for Your Body

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.
Hey Collegiettes!
It is finally here, the moment we have all been waiting for – Spring Quarter! Spring Quarter means beautiful weather, Picnic Day, and the opening of the rec pool. Since you’ve missed out on the sun for the past few weeks, your free time is probably going to be spent lounging by the pool. Every collegiette
is going to want to look as fabulous as she can to welcome in the new season! I am here to help.  In order to get you looking and feeling your best this quarter, I have comprised a guide for picking the best swimsuits for your body. Click on the links to see where you can get these figure-flattering swimsuits!

Apple Shape

If you tend to carry most of your weight in your stomach, look for a one piece with ruching, tiers, or tummy control to conceal the mid section. Pieces with a low-cut V-neck are especially flattering. If you are afraid of having a boring one piece, play it up with cute accessories because once you’re in the water, it only matters that you’re having fun!

Pear Shape

If your lower body is bigger than your upper body, look for ruffled tops to add volume where you need it! Make sure to stay away from boy cut shorts because they divide your body into awkward proportions.

Boy Shape

Your goal is to show as much skin as possible to accentuate even the smallest curves. String bikinis are great for this, especially ones with bright patterns!

Small Bust

Go for a bikini with padding, especially a triangle top. Avoid a bandeau style top because it will take away any volume! Drive the attention towards your bust with a funky patterned top paired with a monotone bottom.

Large Bust

The most important feature of your bathing suit is under wire support! Look for a halter-top with thick straps for maximum support. Dark solids are always a flattering choice, but don’t be afraid to be bold and go for bright geometric patterns as well.
