Earth is an element known for its solidity, stability, and tangibility. The very food we eat, ground we walk on, and materials that surround us are extracted from earth itself. Zodiacal earth signs are said to encompass similar traits of dependability, structuredness, and groundedness, but that same steadfast position could flip to unyielding rigidity. Each Earth sign possesses its own nuances, so let’s dive into how they each bring their individual colors to the landscape.
1. Taurus
Represented by the bull, those born under the Taurus sign are said to embody qualities of calmness and solitude. Being that their ruling planet is Venus, Taureans love to indulge in the finer things in life: food, clothing, jewelry, music, and even relationships. Because of their fixed-earth nature, Taureans are extremely loyal, devoted, and affectionate partners. Once a commitment is made, it is made.
Unfortunately, that same loyalty towards a person or purpose can easily morph into sheer relentlessness. Having fixed-earth modality makes Taureans the most stubborn, stationary people out of the zodiac belt. In some cases, that stubbornness can manifest into a boring, lazy personality, where a person never wishes to change their habits or interests. Additionally, Taurus’ abundant love for luxuries can turn into greediness and overattachment to material goods.Â
While Taurus may possess these vices, they can be put to good use in artistic endeavors. Singing, painting, and even cooking can channel the material energy of Venus into the artistic form. Their sensual nature can exude comfort to those near them, and through expression of themselves, combined with their strong sense of commitment, it can make (and has made) them excellent artists out in the world and in the home.
2. Virgo
With their ruler Mercury, Virgos are EXTREMELY intelligent. They find the most joy in stimulating their mind, so it shouldn’t be a shock if their hobbies include trivia, reading books, watching documentaries, or even going to museums. Their symbol of the Virgin best embodies their pure-heartedness and generosity; all Virgos wish the best for those around them, and they hold themselves to the same standards of perfection.Â
Uh oh, I used the word “perfection.” Virgos are known to be ruthless in the way they view themselves, constantly nit-picking at every quality that doesn’t meet their unreasonable benchmark. Virgos are only judgemental of others because they inadvertently see others’ deficiencies in themselves. Guaranteed, a Virgo is reading this right now and taking note of every grammatical error I’ve made.
It is that same thirst for perfection that has taken many Virgos to great heights: look at Beyonce! It is completely fine to desire improvement, but staying stagnant and pondering every detail actually prevents growth. Once Virgos learns to find a balance between their attention to detail and overall satisfaction, it can bring even greater success than what they have accomplished before.
3. Capricorn
Ah, the Kang Taemoos of the zodiac (for all my Business Proposal fans). Capricorns bring about this CEO-like energy, probably coming from their ruler Saturn. Saturn is a dry, cold planet known for instilling a sense of discipline, duty, and responsibility in individuals. As a result, Capricorns are extremely hardworking, methodical, and organized. Representation of the mountain goat can explain their ambitious nature, and with the combination of their cardinal modality, Capricorns make excellent leaders. Unlike Aries who are good at starting up new projects, Capricorns are excellent at overseeing a project to the end.Â
While they are quite mature and steadfast in their goals, Capricorns are notoriously known for their supposed “lack of emotions.” In reality, Capricorns can be very emotional; it’s just their bottling-up of their feelings, their trust issues, and pessimistic attitude that makes them emanate a distant, cold energy. It may feel awkward to seek comfort from a Capricorn, but once they recognize a person to be trustworthy, rest assured they will do what it takes to make you feel safe and taken care of.Â
Astrology is never the “end-all-be-all” of a person, and it should especially never take the place of the authentic life you have now. We can all use a few lessons from the “pros and cons” of the Earth signs, as it can shed light on our qualities that can be enhanced or revised in us.
