Fall Fashion Staples You Should Have in Your Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

Fall is the perfect season for some of the best fashion looks. We love seeing outfits that are layered with gold and brown colors. There are fashionable outfit ideas on Pinterest, and trying recreate some outfits may be costly, but with these fashion staples you can recycle them with multiple outfits and create different looks. These are some of the ultimate clothing items everyone should have during the fall to feel cozy all while looking like a style guru.

Thigh High Boots

They make your legs look longer and they look great with anything. Pair them with a cute skirt or tight shorts to really emphasize your legs. If you want to make any outfit fancier, thigh high boots definitely do the trick, and they come in different materials, usually suede or velvet, as well as with an open toe or closed toe.

Scarves

Not only do they keep you warm, but they also create an essence of style, especially by adding a pop of color to your outfit. There are different ways of wrapping them around your neck, as well as different lengths and patterns. There are infinity scarves which are looped and are usually smaller. These are worn more often by style gurus online because they can be placed easier.

Cabby Hats

Also known as a newsboy cap, this casual yet stylish flat cap can add an edge to your look. It usually has a rounder frame, and often has buttons on the rim. A lot of influencers online have made this cap popular and now many stores are selling different types of cabby hats. For example, you can find velvet, denim, suede, and leather options. Whichever style you decide to go with is bound to be stylish.

Berets

Berets may usually be associated with French cafes, but they are super cute and make any outfit look instantly well-rounded. They come in an array of colors and they can be positioned in so many ways. They can be pulled to the back, positioned so that they lean to the side, the rim tucked away or emphasized. It all depends on the type of look you are trying to achieve, but a beret is bound to make your outfit stand out regardless.

Gloves and Mittens

They are a necessity when it is cold outside! They come in different lengths, materials and colors, and they keep your hands nice and toasty.

Knit Sweaters

They aren’t as thick as coats or jackets, but they still keep you warm during the fall. Knit sweaters are cute, stylish, and can be layered under a coat or jacket. They are usually mock neck or oversized.

Long Coats

The bigger the better, and they come in different patterns! There are ones with buttons, with pockets, zippers, hoods- the possibilities are endless. If you do not have one, it is a must for the fall season!

Hopefully, you already have one of these items in your wardrobe, and if not, now is the perfect time to start adding apparel to your closet. If some items are too pricey for your budget, the thrift store is always a great alternative. They have some wonderful stuff!
