Hair How-To: Mastering the Messy Bun

Now that I’ve mastered the messy bun, I can look good without putting in a ton of effort. Follow these tips, and you can do the same! 

1. It works best on second day hair

To get the full messy bun effect, make sure your hair is a little dirty. 

2. Only twist once

This is probably the most important tip. Only twist your hair once, and then wrap around. 

3. Dry shampoo

Use dry shampoo to make your hair look a little messy, not too sleek.

4. One hair tie

The trick to a messy bun is to make it as loose as possible. 

5. Bobby pins

Pin long loose hairs down. 

6. Let it be

Just let your bun live its life and be messy. Don’t try too hard!
