My relationship with Trader Joe’s stems from the fact that I lived across the street from one. After I finished my classes while growing up, my sister and I would go to Trader Joe’s and sample whatever they were serving that day. However, when I moved into the dorms for my freshman year of college, Trader Joe’s and I took a break. It was heartbreaking, but I eventually learned to cope with the all-around average food from the dining commons. As if it was fate, Trader Joe’s and I found each other once again. My sophomore year of college, I moved into an apartment that was only a brisk walk away from Trader Joe’s. Our relationship has been growing ever since.
Trader Joe’s has introduced me to many different types of foods throughout my life and has made me, honestly, a “low-key foodie.” Their unique items and low prices always prompt me to try something new whenever I’m shopping there. I want you all to have the great experiences I’ve had at Trader Joe’s. That being said, here are some of my top three favorite items for you to throw into your shopping cart the next time you find yourself there!
1. Trader Joe’s 12 Classic Lemon Bars:
I am not exaggerating when I say that these taste like a warm and sunny day. These are the perfect dessert to wake up to or fall asleep to. Sweet with a hint of tart, these lemon bars are honestly the best ones that I have ever had. They’re one of my more recent finds, as I spontaneously put them into my cart during my first grocery run when I moved into my apartment. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked. Each lemon bar is small enough that when you sneak one in at night, you don’t feel guilty and large enough that in the morning, it fills you up.
2. Chili and Lime Flavored Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips:
If you’re addicted to Hot Cheetos or Takis, this one’s for you. In my personal opinion, these taste better than both of those brand chips. They’re a healthier alternative as well, because they don’t contain MSG. I’ve been snacking on these since high school. My sister and I were obsessed! They’re perfect for when you have the munchies but want something healthier. The minute I discovered these, I never bought a bag of Takis again.
3. Trader Joe’s Goat Cheese and Sundried Tomato Ravioli:
This was a particularly new find for me as well. Moving into an apartment and having to cook for myself, I was constantly looking for quick meals to make that weren’t just Cup Noodles. This was it. This ravioli goes with just about every sauce I’ve tried. One time when I was in a hurry, I just drizzled some olive oil over it, and it was still good! I highly recommend this to everyone, but specifically college students.
My relationship with Trader Joe’s is ever-growing. From living across one in my hometown to now living across one in my college town, I have never once found myself getting tired of the food they sell. I hope that with these three new items to try, I’ve inspired you to start your relationship with them as well!
