New Eats: What’s Popping Up Around Davis

Some good food is making its home in Davis. See what has newly arrived this Spring Quarter:

Gongcha

Located in North Davis Marketplace Plaza next to Noah’s Bagels and Peet’s Coffee is a newly opened boba paradise. Customize your milk tea with your desired ice and sweetness level, and go ham with their huge selection of toppings and flavors from normal tapioca, to creamy milk foam, to aiyu (lemon flavored jelly), to ice cream milk tea.

Zumapoke and Lush Ice

Ever crave some Hawaiian poke? Now you can satisfy the craving you never knew you had. In a chipotle style menu selection, you can pick and choose your base, sticky rice or bamboo rice or cucumber salad, as well as sides that include kimchi, seaweed salad, edamame,or masago (fish egg) and your raw protein selections range from salmon, yellowtail, ahi tuna, spicy tuna, octopus, shrimp, hamachi, and so much more! They even offer icy alcoholic drinks!

Cheng du Style

Emulating a region of China that prides itself for its flavorful and spicy dishes, Chengdu Style is one of the most authentic ethnic Chinese restaurants in Davis. One of their best dishes? The mouthwatering spicy mapo tofu and eggplants with garlic sauce and vermicelli with minced pork. Stop by here for a bite if your mouth is looking for the numbing spiciness Szechuan cuisine is so famous for.

The Good Scoop

Organic ice cream with unique flavors that will leave you wanting more. In perfect tune with the warmer weather, the slightly pricier desserts are definitely worth every penny. Some flavors are seasonal, so they’re not the same all of the time. Lemon thyme, sweet corn, avocado, lavender, carrot cake, vanilla custard are among the flavors available, all infused its natural herbs and spices, making for a rich and flavorful creamy treat.  Even the waffle cones are handmade.
