It’s the beginning of the end for those of us who are graduating or participating in the commencement speech at the end of Spring Quarter. Even if some of us are sticking around for Summer Sessions, finishing this quarter is still a rather momentous occasion to celebrate. The end of this quarter, however, is also something many dread. Job searches, moving crises, and the idea of separating from our friends have so many of us stressed out beyond belief. Amidst all of this anxiety and sorrow, you might also start to wonder what your time at UC Davis has meant to you. Despite what you find out about yourself, here are some things to remember this quarter so that you can appreciate how far you’ve come while remembering that it’s never too late to be where you want to be.

1. Yes, your time here is ending, but your growth as a person will continue with any and every experience you come across.

2. You are more than just your grades and academic success. You can define yourself outside of a GPA.

3. Getting a college degree, regardless of your major, is a huge deal. You’ve put in time and energy here that means something, and it doesn’t matter how long you took. You earned every moment of this.

4. You have made progress during your time here even if it’s not obvious to you.

5. If you and your friends put in the effort to communicate, you will not lose each other after college is over.

6. If you don’t have a job lined up after you graduate, it is okay. You have time to figure things out, and you can make it work.

Of course none of this means you shouldn’t work hard this quarter. Just remember that your happiness matters, and you can trust yourself to do what’s best for you in the long run.
