College is the end result of 12 years of hard work.
It’s the rejection letters, the acceptance letters, the SAT/ACT tutoring, the AP classes, the honors classes, the many clubs and organizations and teams you feel the need to be a part of because a college will like you so much more.
It’s the academic competition you endure throughout high school and possibly as early as elementary school. College is the fake acceptance letters your classmates present to your graduating class because they are scared of what people will think of them when people find out they didn’t actually get in.

You endure a heart-wrenching but heartwarming (because there still are some good things like Friday night football games and sleepovers) lead up for 12 long years just to get into college.
College is college. It’s as plain and simple as that.
It truly doesn’t matter where you go, whether it’s a UC, an Ivy League, a state school, or a community college.
What matters the most is what you have learned along the way. Not only in school, but also outside of school. It’s about the drive you had to get to where you are now and the people you met along the way, along with the people you continue to meet.
You can do anything and be anything you want to be.
There is no need to pick a major that the world deems the most lucrative when you can’t stand the thought of studying it. It is no one’s business to tell you what classes you should be taking. You know yourself best and your goals and aspirations. You can do anything and be anything as long as you have the drive and passion.

College is about finding out more about yourself and becoming your authentic self. It is about exploring and trial and error. It doesn’t matter if the last 12 years of your life were the worst because now there is a chance to start new, no matter where you are.
We worry so much about what college we get into and not enough about ourselves.
