Some Hot Brands in My Closet This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

Arriving at the end of the quarter, we are about to give a big welcome to spring! In this upcoming blooming season, my favorite brands for the hot weather are here. I know everyone has their own specific choice of outfit, and the style could vary from time to time for individuals, too. But these brands always catch my eye and target at my niche tastes of dressing which I would like to share with you out there scrolling for fancy everyday wear.

1. Urban Outfitters (UO)

Range: $$$

This famed name has been in the air within the past decade. It originated at Philadelphia and came out from an entrepreneurship project. As such, the blood of UO’s fashion has been up to date for all time. It collects apparel brands such as Nike, Champion, Stussy, Adidas, and Fila. If you are looking for something girly and pretty, it also has its own UO clothing as well. I especially appreciate how they approach the diversity of customers with providing various matching clothes. They offer California hippie style through a series of tie-dye products, or customary elegance with a touch of lace creation.

They always update their web page with the latest trends in the market. It barely goes wrong when you got a new piece from UO.

2. Nastygal

 Range: $$

Nastygal is another smash hit for young females’ shopping list. It is easy to be fooled when you open up their website and check out a deal every time. They always give 50 percent mark down on their products and make it sound like a one-time offer. But there are sure reasons to be hyped about their beautiful tops and dresses. Their designs are aimed at all ladies with all kinds of body shapes. The most exciting part of NastyGal is that they have apposite and exquisite outfits for each occasion that are affordable. And my gown for last Thanksgiving dinner was worth it!

3. Zaful or Shein

Range: $

I put these two together because their online retail outlets are pretty much the same with their layout and sales modes. They are one of the best representations for fast moving consumer goods today. With a bottom price for women’s clothing, ZAFUL unfortunately cannot guarantee their quality. But I would always recommend these two brands for friends who are budget-hunters. For instance, you could buy Halloween costumes, which are constantly changing every year so they have a wide selection. I usually get my swimsuit orders from their websites since my collection of bikinis is different for every beach season.

4. Princesspolly

Range: $$$

Princesspolly is definitely the symbol of Instagram trends. Floral miniskirts, crop tops, curvy jeans, and the list goes on. The models they choose are usually popular icons with thousands of fans on social media. The chic graphics from their clothing are the outstanding selling points. They have some decent clothing that can satisfy your dreamy looks.

5. Brandy Melville

Range: $$

Brandy Melville is in its perfect rising position this year. With much publicity generated by Youtubers and social media influencers, it becomes a star in the fashion market.

However, the brand is so exclusive for its customers that it only has one size for all clothing except for some types of jeans. With that being said, the message conveyed behind the brand remains relatively controversial. People throw doubts on them because their promotion and sponsored videos are everywhere on the net. When the major community who connects with Brandy Melville consists of skinny teenage girls, their unique marketing might cause consequential cognitive thoughts, like eating disorders. It infers that the company might only want to cater to the slimmer population.

Aside from the fact they receive lots of criticism from the public, Brandy Melville plays a robust role in the mainstream market of women’s outfits. Their prevailing attires are mostly basics for everyday occasions. While there are people out there who don’t advocate for their ideology, it still remains an option for us to follow up with stylish gear.
