As the final installment of the “zodiac sign qualities” articles, we are going to discuss the emotional, nurturing, and intuitive energies of the water signs. Water as an element can cleanse and replenish, but when underestimated, can be as choking and damaging as a cyclone. Each water sign brings its own still pond and tsunami-like qualities, so let’s dive into each one.
1. Cancer
Many think of Cancers as the mothers of the zodiac, which is accurate enough to represent all of their positive attributes. Nurturing, empathetic, and loving, Cancers are the best to approach in times of triumph or sorrow. They will be the first to celebrate your accomplishments, and the last to abandon you when experiencing difficulties. Their ability to effortlessly connect to their emotions can make them highly receptive and excellent at providing comfort and security.
But of course, providing security does not mean lacking in insecurities. Cancers are stereotyped to be crybabies and oversensitive, but honestly, there’s no other way to describe it. They take everything personally…EVERYTHING. Every minor inconvenience plants a seed in their minds that the world hates them, reinforces their wounded self-worth, manifests into a constant need for validation. And then, when they don’t receive that validation, it feeds back into the loop of self-doubt. This loop ends up being the cause for other negative qualities like possessiveness, moodiness, passive-aggressiveness…. all the “-nesses.” As a Cancer myself, there is only one way to nip things in the bud: STOP CARING ABOUT EVERYTHING SO MUCH, IT’S NOT THAT DEEP!!!
2. Scorpio
Ah boy, I already feel winded typing their name out. Scorpios are some of the most intense, passionate, and honest people one can find. Their relentless integrity and search for depth make them highly capable of mastering any activity, while refusing to throw on a fake persona to please others. Rest assured that any endeavor or person a Scorpio brings into their life, it is because they have full trust and faith in its potential.
However, don’t take the word “trust” too far. That same intensity towards life can flip on Scorpios to make them extremely pessimistic, paranoid, and stubborn with their beliefs. Their fixed modality, ruler Mars, and scorpion symbol conglomerate to make a fierce, judgemental, sometimes unapproachable energy. Try having a fair argument with them, you aren’t gonna win even if you’re right. Scorpios themselves are very well aware of their capabilities, but once they learn to accept others for their ways of life, it can bring peace to what is usually a pretty heated atmosphere.
3. Pisces
Dreamy and whimsical, Pisces are the kings and queens of vivid imaginations. One thing worth admiring is they can naturally channel their abstract, complex feelings into some artistic endeavor, whether it be music, painting, writing, etc. Unlike Scorpio or Cancer, their mutable modality gives them a slightly more flexible, open-minded nature, so much so that they easily see the good in everyone.
Unfortunately, that same instinct to lean into everyone’s goodness leaves Pisces running back to the very people who hurt them. Their kind, forgiving nature can work too well and cloud their sense of reality when it comes to people’s intentions. That same cloudiness has led Pisces into many problematic situations, as their overly dreamy nature can make them forget actions have consequences. In some ways, it can be beneficial to have idealistic expectations, but once Pisces learns to ground their dreams in reality, there is nothing stopping them from living greater than their own fantasies.
As we conclude this four-part series on the qualities of the zodiac signs, I must bring it all back to the main point: every individual can adopt, work through, and evolve from every trait of every sign. Instead of boxing ourselves into a specific category, we should understand we humans are complex and ever-changing. Your date of birth can never encompass 100% of who you are. Instead, we can look at these arbitrary categories of zodiac signs and identify what qualities are similar in us and what can be changed to make us better people.
