Christmas is quickly approaching with each day that passes, which means it’s time to play Christmas music. If you love soul, you’re going to love these albums. In no particular order, here are four soulful albums I want to highlight by amazing vocalists. These will be sure to get you into the Christmas spirit for this holiday season.Â
- “This Is Christmas“Â by Luther Vandross
-
Vandross released this Christmas album in 1995. My favorite song from this album is “This Is Christmas.” Throughout the song, Vandross hits high notes flawlessly in the chorus. The album is full of both upbeat and slow songs, adding up to 10 total songs. If you haven’t heard this album yet, check it out!
- ‘The Ultimate Motown Christmas Collection’
-
This album consists of vocals by many powerhouses such as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and The Jackson 5. Songs like “What Christmas Means To Me” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” will have you dancing and singing in your room. The collection contains two discs, giving listeners over 50 amazing Christmas tunes to jam to during the holidays.
- “Christmas With The Miracles” by The Miracles
-
The Miracles released this Christmas album in 1987. There’s a balance of upbeat songs and slow, chill ones. All of the tunes on the album contain beautiful harmonies and instrumentals. My favorites are “Christmas Every Day” and “Winter Wonderland,” but all of the songs are amazing. Add this album to your Christmas playlist — it’s one that’s worth a listen this holiday season!
- “Home For Christmas” by The O’Jays
-
One of the most popular songs from this album is “I Can Hardly Wait ‘Til Christmas,” which contains smooth high notes and harmonies. The album, released in 1991, has a total of 10 songs. Classic Christmas songs such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “Carol Of The Bells” are featured on the group’s album. Everyone should listen to this phenomenal album during Christmastime! Â
Each of the mentioned Christmas albums has a unique, soulful sound. The vocalists’ singing in each of them is beyond amazing. They’re all great for background music while you’re cooking, decorating the tree, and drinking hot chocolate. Enjoy listening to these tunes this Christmas!
Happy Holidays!
