The most wonderful time of the year is almost here for us Spotify users! If you are unfamiliar with Spotify’s most popular feature, Spotify Wrapped is a way users can see their listening habits; this includes top artists, songs, and music genres. To celebrate the release of Spotify Wrapped 2022 next month, I gathered five artists I believe will be taking over my Wrapped this year.

Just in time to make several appearances on my Spotify Wrapped, Beyonce released her seventh studio album, Renaissance: Act I, during the summer. Since its release, it has been my go-to feel-good music for when I need a mood booster in the morning. The lyrics are liberating and include catchy beats that make you want to dance it out wherever you are. Not only has Renaissance been on repeat, but I’ve also been drawn to her classics including, “Get Me Bodied” and “Ring the Alarm.”

Hong Dab-in, also known as DPR Live, is a singer and rapper from South Korea. He was my introduction to Korean R&B four years ago, and I’ve been hooked on the genre ever since. Live is clearly not afraid to explore new sounds which is evident in his latest EP, IITE COOL. Although it was released last summer, it has been part of my heavy music rotation for the past few months. With his captivating voice and upbeat vibe in each song, it’s hard not to listen to the whole album more than once.

Another artist I couldn’t get enough of this year is singer and rapper Doja Cat. Since she reached popularity on TikTok in 2018, she has not failed at making high-energy bops that are easy to obsess over. A song I’m expecting to show up on my Spotify Wrapped this year is her hit single,”Vegas.” Not only has the song claimed number one on the Pop Songs chart, but I’m positive it will be number one on my top songs as well.

When it comes to 26-year-old singer-songwriter, Remi Wolf, it’s hard to just listen to one song. After discovering her song, “Photo ID,” through TikTok, I couldn’t get enough of her appealing visuals and unique sound. Although Remi Wolf’s music is a newfound love for me, I’m still confident it will appear on my Spotify Wrapped this year!
- Weston Estate

My last prediction is actually one of my favorite bands originating from North Carolina, called Weston Estate. The band is made up of friends Marco Luka, Manas Panchavati, Abhi Manhass, Tanmay Joshi, and Srikar Nanduri. Describing themselves as “Ya aunty’s favorite boyband,” the group is no stranger when it comes to catchy lyrics and a chill alternative sound. After discovering them on Spotify with their single, “Hypnotized,” they have been on constant repeat for me this year. From late-night studying to long work days, they seem to fit every playlist I create. I wouldn’t be surprised if multiple songs of theirs make it into my Spotify Wrapped this year.
As December nears and 2022 comes to an end, don’t be shy to share your music stats on social media! Music is a great way to make friends and connect with those with similar listening habits. It’s also rewarding to reminisce and rediscover the songs we loved earlier this year.
