5 Things To Do Before Graduating From UCF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Being one of the largest universities in the country, UCF has a huge student body and offers a wide variety of activities for students to enjoy. From attending school spirit activities like football games and Spirit Splash to kayaking at Lake Claire, I’ve made memories on campus with friends that will last a lifetime. Now, in my senior year and final semester at UCF, I plan to make the most of the semester and appreciate all of the activities that make up campus life before graduation. Whether you’re in your freshman year, or your senior year (like me) here are five things to do before graduating from UCF.

Stargaze at the Robinson observatory

The Robinson Observatory is run by faculty and students of the Planetary Sciences Group and the UCF Astronomy Society and offers large telescopes for students to explore the wonders of the night sky. Students and the public can stargaze for free during the event the observatory hosts every semester called Knights Under the Stars. Before I graduate, I’d love to go to one of these events and learn more about the night sky. For more information and to view the observatoryā€™s event schedule, you can visit their website here.

Go on aN RWC Adventure Trip

The Recreation and Wellness Center offers several adventure trips both in state and out of state for students to explore the outdoors. Some trips are a single day while others span an entire weekend and all are either free or offered at a conveniently low price. I think embarking on one of these trips with a friend would be an incredible experience. There are so many places to see in the world, and I think this would be too good of an opportunity to pass up.

attend a Theatre UCF performance

Throughout each semester, the College of Arts and Humanities offers several events for students to enjoy that are produced by their theatre, music and visual arts programs. Being a lover of the arts, I would love to watch a theatre performance put on by students of the Theatre UCF program before I graduate. After having enjoyed going to exhibitions at the UCF Art Gallery and hearing great music coming from the performing arts building, I think the college’s theatre performances would be an event to remember.

hammock on memory mall

Memory mall has several palm trees perfect for hammocking. Students are known to hammock there, and there is almost always someone hammocking near the flag pole every time I walk by the area. Some students hammock to relax while others hammock to study or socialize with friends. Because I haven’t gotten many chances to hammock there, I would love to hammock there more before I graduate, since it’s a fun way to relax and hang out with friends outdoors.

Capture grad pics on campus

UCF offers several fantastic locations to take graduation pictures on campus. Before I graduate, I would like to take pictures inside the football stadium and in front of my school, the Nicholson School of Communication and Media, as well as on the Pegasus seal. The Pegasus seal is located on the first floor of the student union and is a staple photo spot for anyone graduating from UCF, as only graduates have the chance to take photos here, while current students are instructed to never walk on it.

I look forward to making the most of my senior year and enjoying all of the activities that make up campus life this semester for the last time. UCF has many amazing activities, and I am thankful for all the memories I’ve made on campus with friends over the years.
