5 Vegetarian Must-Eats at the 2019 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

About a month ago, Disney decided to bless the general public with their most amazing event yet again: Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival. Sure, this festival is no stranger to myself or Walt Disney World. But going into this Food & Wine season, I realized that this would be the first year where I attended the festival as a vegetarian. I know, it seems absolutely terrifying, but at the end of the day, I was determined to make this worth my while. Therefore, I did some digging online, found copies of the booth menus, compiled a list of the most worth it vegetarian options available and stuffed my face in order to make this guide of must-eats. You can thank me later.

Impossible Cottage Pie

The first item I had the pleasure of trying was located in Next Eats at the Earth Eats booth. This pie tasted like the feeling of snuggling up in a blanket at the end of a long, rough day. It was the epitome of comfort food, if you will. The only thing is… could it be a little too hot to eat this in the blazing sun? If you’re like me and don’t care, do yourself a favor and go grab this next time you head to Food & Wine.

Madras Red Curry

This second item is located at the India booth just before the bridge that connects Africa and Norway. If you like a little kick to your food, then you’re in luck with this dish. Another great thing about this item is that you definitely acquire a food baby after picking one of these up, so you get some bang for your buck.

Warm Racelette and Swiss Cheese

Alright, who doesn’t love some cheese, bread and potatoes? Everything about this item was amazing: the warm, gooey swiss—because who doesn’t love carbs?

Chocolate Hazelnut Cake

Now, this is one of the best cakes I’ve EVER had in my life. It’s airy, fluffy and it was a decent portion size. So if you want a little hint of sweetness to balance all the savory, hearty food from the other booths, this is the dessert to order.

Golden Malted Begian Waffle

This one was basically a given. You can’t ever go wrong with a waffle covered with chocolate sauce or some type of fruit compote.

To all my fellow vegetarians out there, I hope you found this helpful and are touched at the fact that Disney cares enough about inclusivity to actually think about us. Happy eating around the world!
