5 Ways To Bring Your Hair Back To Life For Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Now that summer is officially over, it is time to start preparing for the fall and winter months- bringing out your fall wardrobe, decorating the house, and most importantly- taking care of your hair.Ā

Summertime is the prime time for us Floridians, we go to the pool, beach, or just hang out in the sun constantly. This constant exposure definitely breaks up your hair. So after all the ā€œbeach hair donā€™t careā€ Instagram captions, it is time to bring your hair back to life. Your hair may feel unmanageable, and you may feel helpless, but donā€™t worry here are 5 tips and tricks to help you out.

1. Hair Masks

We should all be using hair masks at least once a week no matter the season, but now your hair may need it more than ever. Depending on your hair type you can definitely find the perfect hair mask. If not, there is always a ā€˜DIYā€™ project. Good old coconut oil is one of the best things for your hair, face, and body. Just apply the coconut oil to the bottom half of your hair, leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes then rinse off with shampoo. Even Ulta, Target and TjMaxx have some really good hair masks you can purchase that range for each type of hair.

2. Change Your Products

With the humidity levels slowly changing, so should your hair products. Depending on if you have had your hair dyed before, you would know how important sulfate free shampoo is. This shampoo helps keep your color its true color and avoid it changing colors. Even if your hair is not colored, it is still an extra little thing you can use to treat your hair. Another important product you should bring into your hair routine is an oil- using an oil on wet or freshly styled hair, not only gives a nice sheen but also nourishes the hair while you are out and about.

3. Scalp treatment

This not a very common treatment, but will help nourish your hair. With all of the sun exposure, not only hair has been damaged, but our scalps as well. If you exfoliate your face and body, shouldn’t you treat your scalp too? Most hair salons provide this service and help the core of your hair get back to normal, which can help the rest of your hair as well. According to Health Magazine, ā€œScalp treatmentsĀ unclog the hair follicles, releasing natural conditioning oils. Plus, they stimulate blood flow, so nutrients can better reach theĀ scalpĀ and nourish your hair.ā€

4. Get a trim

As much as we hate it, getting a trim is the best way to boost the lengthening of your hair, as well as its health. Especially after the summer months, the breakage is probably at its worst right now. Getting a trim of just your split ends will make you feel as good as new!

5. Shots!

No, not tequila shots- cold water shots!

It is known that hot water is just not good for your hair whatsoever. So, washing your hair with warm water with the shampoo and conditioner is good, but if you want an extra boost of shine and conditioning- give your hair a quick rinse, a ā€œshotā€ per se, with cold water at the end of the shower. Your hair will thank you later.

After doing at least one of these things, I assure you, your hair will look as good as Beyonce’s. Actually, maybe not Queen B- no one can do that.Ā
