I am constantly listening to music but after awhile my playlist can feel a little stale. It can be difficult to keep up with new music being released on iTunes each week and having the patience to listen through albums to find songs that you genuinely enjoy. I basically did all the work for you! Here are some songs to add to your music library.

Rocket by Tori Kelly

“Maybe I could travel far into something new, hang onto a shooting star bursting into view”

Rocket encompasses every thought you have ever had about exploring a life that is not your own. Wanderlust in its purest form, you will be lulled to imagine yourself in different places around the world. Every song on Tori Kelly’s new EP takes you on an emotional and musical journey.

Buzzcut Season by Lorde

“Shut my eyes to the song that plays, sometimes this has a hot, sweet taste”

Known by her stage name Lorde, sixteen year old New Zealand native has taken music charts by storm with her single “Royals.” Off of her debut album, Pure Heroine, this song proves that sometimes ignorance truly is bliss.

Drink You Away by Justin Timberlake

“Bitter sweet thing, could this be a dream or just the same nightmare that keeps me awake”

Driven by soulful instrumentals, you’ll spend five more minutes thinking about that someone who holds the majority of your thoughts. After listening to “Drink You Away” and “Cabaret,” I can’t help but think that the 20/20 Experience Part 2 is better than Part 1.

Spiritual by Katy Perry

“To see deep down in my soul, oh, you make me bloom like a flower at desert road”

With a mystical sound, spiritual does what it’s supposed to do. You will feel something beyond yourself. It has to be my favorite song from Prism.

Wait for Me by Kings of Leon

“Gonna open my heart, right at the scars, listen up”

At one point or another, we all have to go through a journey to become a better person. The final product is how we want others to see us. Wait for me is a plea for patience.

It’s About Time by Young the Giant

“Everybody come on, lights on, the beaches, everybody come on; delight!”

I fell in love with their debut album in 2011 and it is about time young the giant released new music. It starts off direct with the electric guitar and drums then softens through the chorus. After hearing the chorus, you’ll wish that Sameer Gadhia could sing to you privately. At least I do.

Atlas by Coldplay

“Sometimes the wire must tense for the note, caught in the fire, say oh, we’re about to explode”

As the first single from The Catching Fire music soundtrack Atlas gives a glimpse of what’s in store for Katniss Everdeen. In my opinion, Coldplay can do no wrong and this song is reminiscent of their music before Mylo Xyloto.

Boomerang by Lucy Schwartz

“So I went to the doctor, took a look at my heart, he said we can’t be together, but never to get too far apart”

I have to warn you, Boomerang could make you feel dizzy. The instrumentals are so upbeat and juxtaposes with the whirlwind relationship described. Just break up with him the lyrics beg.

Adore You by Miley Cyrus

“But when you’re near me, I feel like I’m standing with an army, I am armed with weapons”

I’ve never been in love, but I hope it feels exactly like this. You will wonder if Miley loved Liam Hemsworth this much and feel bad.
