Black, White, and Red All Over

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

I want you to imagine one word that you associate with spring. If you thought of “floral,” I want you to crumple that word up and throw it in your overflowing trash can. Keeping Meryl Streep’s classic “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” in mind, it’s time to get off those crutches and bring it with the new spring trend: self-confidence.

Whether you believe in Global Warming or not, this past week has been a scorcher. Welcome to Florida, where it’s the middle of January and I’m outside wearing less clothes than I do in June and sweating all over my Nikon. The girls that I saw around campus were following suit, wearing those dresses they’ve been dying to wear all winter now that it’s above 75 degrees. Spring’s here with a sexy bang and so are all of you Stylish Collegiettes. Sleeved dresses with tights seem to be the easiest transition from winter to spring, since you can stay cool for your afternoon classes and comfortably warm in your evening classes. Statement necklaces are running wild, adding that beautiful cherry on top to your flawless outfit. After all, it’s not summer just yet. Keep those short-shorts in your dresser for just a couple more months. It’s the time of year for new life and spring-cleaning.  Celebrate both with a clean-cut and confident new wardrobe.

Jordan Phillips is one of those girls that completely embodies the Stylish Collegiette. She somehow manages to consistently look fully on trend while looking as if she simply rolled out of bed and put on whatever she saw hanging in her closet. This is a phenomenon I like to call “The Diva Factor.” I often hear girls saying, “I wish I could pull that off!” Jordan is one of those girls that simply pulls it off without a second guess, and that is the biggest lesson to learn in fashion. When it comes to your individual look, believing is seeing. Go thrift shopping and find something that Kate Moss would have worn after storming down the John Galliano catwalk in ‘94. If someone looks at you strangely, tilt your head up and be the new Kate Moss. So what’s in for spring? Confidence. Sexuality. Color. Boldness. Overall, the new spring trend is being on point and never ever doubting that you are.
