If you don’t know what Bonnaroo is, then you are missing out on one of the greatest music festivals there is. Located in Tennessee, it’s the perfect distance for an unforgettable road trip with all your friends. All you need is a full tank of gas, some camping gear, and that expensive, but oh-so-worth-it, golden ticket. This four-day festival is every music lover’s heaven. Think of it like a modern day Woodstock feel. And if you’re not already buying your ticket online now, then wait until you hear the line-up.
If you haven’t cleared your calendar from June 7 to 10, then start planning on being sick those days. Because you will be spending your time in Manchester, Tennessee on a 700-acre farm. Part of the appeal about this festival is being able to camp with all of the other thousands of people that came for the music. The downside? It’s camping. I mean really camping. You have to pay to use showers, which aren’t the cleanest, and the bathrooms are not much better once you finally get in one. But that’s not why people travel the distance to attend this event. In the end, it’s really about the music.
It’s hard to classify Bonnaroo as a specific genre for music. There is something for everyone. For those classic rock listeners, the Beach Boys will be reuniting for their 50th anniversary and Alice Cooper will be performing. Or if you prefer electronic dance music, Skrillex will make an appearance. The main headliners will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead. Some other popular performers will be Bon Iver, Foster the People, Ludacris, Feist, and many more. So while you may have always thought that Bonnaroo was more of an indie vibe, look at the line-up and tell me if Ludacris is classified as indie. Didn’t think so.
As shocking as it sounds, Bonnaroo isn’t just music. They also have a comedy lineup. One of the main headliners will be Aziz Ansari from Community and 30 Minutes or Less. So while you get great music, you also get some great laughs. As mentioned earlier, tickets are a bit pricey. They start at $244.50 for the full four-day event, which includes camping and parking, and the VIP package for two is $1399.50 with lots of special amenities. While it does sound like a lot, there is a payment plan option for five payments of $52. So start saving because they went on sale Saturday, Feb. 26. Hopefully, by now you have realized that Bonnaroo is so much more than what you initially thought. You’ll make so many memories, and honestly, who can put a price on that?
