Five Ways To Fall In Love With Your Closet Again

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of seeing the same tops, dresses, and pants in my closet. Everywhere I go, it seems like there are new things that should be in my closet. Last weekend I spent thirty minutes making a shopping basket filled with clothes that I would love to own. My own personal torture when I don’t have money to spend on clothes! It can also be tempting to want to spend your paycheck on the latest trendy item. Lucky for you I have some tips that can help you stay strong!

Clean Your Closet

You know the cute red dress you have not been able to find? Well, it’s in the back of your closet. Cleaning your closet will change your perspective. Seeing all your clothes will stimulate your mind and lead to new ways to wear your clothes.

Scavenge Someone Else’s Closet

Occasionally, some of my outfits will feature items borrowed from le placard de ma mere, also known as my mom’s closet. Being able to swap clothes with friends or siblings will allow you to add something to your wardrobe without spending money. If you’re lucky like I was, the dress you saw on your sister a couple weeks back will suddenly be yours when she decides that it’s too short for her.

Use Accessories

Playing around with accessories will make it more fun for you! Even though you’re tired of wearing similar outfits, having a cute piece will keep your eye on other things. I suggest also playing around with nail polish colors and designs.

Learn New Hairstyles

Doing new things with your hair will keep your focus on other things. It takes practice but after successfully doing a cute hairdo you will have a smile on your face. Hairstyles can be considered as another accessory, as it can become an addition to your style.

Remember to be Daring

Life gets interesting when you put yourself out there and try new things! Use your closet to wear things differently. It can be easy to forget that style is for your own enjoyment. You shouldn’t take your style so seriously. Let loose and remember to have fun!
