It’s time to get tough, ladies, and stand up to the hardest challenge known to man. A new trend is sweeping countries all over the world that tests the toughness of those who think they conquer it.
The Tough Mudder Marathon will bring you to the inferno and back. But let’s face it- girls can be just as tough, and maybe even tougher. Tough Mudder events consist of a 10- to 12-mile course of grueling obstacles designed by the British Special Forces to test the overall stretch, agility, and endurance of the brave souls who sign up. Some include a huge ice bath where you have swim underneath a wall in freezing waters, 12-foot tall walls that climb up and down when you’re feeling the most weak, a drop into deep waters that is over 15-feet tall, and my personal favorite, electroshock therapy, which requires you to run through a wall of wires that give off shocks of 10,000 volts.
Sounds extremely tough, right? But don’t worry, you are not alone. The spirit of camaraderie surrounds all the participants. You definitely don’t have to fear about finishing this race alone. Your fellow tough mudders will be helping you out as you help your fellow tough mudders as well. A large theme of this event is brotherhood. Accomplishment feels the best when you’re with everyone that has been with you through the mud, fire and water, to cross the finish line victoriously.
It’s not just for manly men though; it’s a test of not just physical strength, but your mental and emotional strength. Girls can conquer this course with the right training and attitude of sisterhood and team work.
To sign up for the Tough Mudder Marathon, go to the website www.toughmudder.com. Pick the location and date and pay for your bib. Although it could be expensive, the money supports the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps thousands of warriors recover from coming home from the battlefield. So not only are you testing your toughness in the spirit of brotherhood, but you are supporting our heroes.
