Haley Ingram, a current sophomore, joined Delta Delta Delta’s pledge class of fall 2014. During recruitment, Haley became enchanted with Tri Delta’s philanthropy which has a national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and $60 million in 10 years commitment. Immediately after joining, Haley volunteered to be on the committee for philanthropy. That fall when new officers were elected, she was chosen by her sisters to be the Assistant Philanthropy Chair. Haley was assistant to Stephanie Bratic who’s passion for philanthropy inspired Haley to accept her nomination for Philanthropy Chair in November 2015.
Her Campus UCF (HCUCF): So what exactly does it mean to have a national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital?
Haley Ingram (HI): Tri Delta became a national partner of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1999. Since 1999, we have raised over $40 million dollars for St. Jude. Nationally, Tri Delta has a goal of raising $60 million in 10 years. In 2006, Tri Delta took on a commitment to raise $10 million in 10 years. Tri Delta met the $10 million fundraising goal in just four years instead of 10. In 2010, Tri Delta announced its commitment to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at St. Jude. In just 3.5 years, Tri Delta met their $15 million fundraising goal. In 2014, Tri Delta committed to raising 60 million in 10 years to name Tri Delta Place, the on-campus, short-term housing facility at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
HCUCF: As Philanthropy Chair, what do you do exactly? And if I wanted to help contribute to Tri Delt’s donations to St. Jude, what could I do?
HI: I am currently planning our annual spring event, Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP), which will be on March 1st from 5-9 pm at the Tri Delta house. Tickets are $5 from a sister, $7 at the door, and include all you can eat bacon, hash browns, and of course pancakes. We will also have entertainment, music, raffles, and games. I have been planning the event for a couple of months now; talking with sponsors and different companies, implementing a plan and schedule for the event, tabling and fundraising for St. Jude, advertising and a lot of event planning!
HCUCF: That’s awesome, Haley, I will definitely be there! How do you feel about playing such a large role in guiding your chapter to help reach St. Jude’s goal?
HI: This is the largest single commitment by a St. Jude partner. St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers, and treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent. Our chapter is determined to help them fund the research to push that survival rate to 90 percent and not stop until no child dies from cancer!
Join Tri Delta for DHOP and help Haley and the rest of the chapter raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and their efforts to research, treat and defeat childhood cancer and other fatal diseases.
