Molly Slicker. MOLLY Slicker. Molly SLICKER. No matter how cool you say her name, it will never be as cool as she is. As UCF Her Campus Editor-in-Chief, Molly has been able to inspire our whole team with her wit, her style and her ability to push us as writers to our full potential. She can be described as a female Chandler from Friends, and basically the girl who I aspire to be as both a writer and a person. If you meet her and don’t automatically like her ARE YOU A ROBOT WHO IS CRAZY OR NAH?? If you don’t Facebook stalk her and immediately want to be friends with her then who are you?? We want her to stay on our HCUCF team forever, but there’s something about not being able to do it if you’re graduating soon blah blah blah… I present to you, my mentor, Molly Slicker!

Year?SeniorMajor?Human Communication with a minor in Cinema Studies.Advice for freshman Molly?Conveniently, I actually wrote an article about this once: http://www.hercampus.com/school/ucf/what-i-wish-i-knew-freshmanBottom line: Let yourself be different. Embrace it. Remember you don’t have to do everything that everyone else is doing and you don’t have to act like you have it all together.
Also, this is the most free time you’ll ever have again. Ever. Embrace it. Be a little lazy. Stay up late and sleep in late unapologetically. Why did you choose UCF?I chose UCF because I didn’t want just a college town, I wanted opportunity. I wanted to live in a place that even after 4 years, would continue to excite and surprise me and that’s what Orlando is.Favorite Her Campus article you’ve written?http://www.hercampus.com/school/ucf/molly-mollyIt’s gotta be “Molly on Molly”. The feedback was beyond anything I ever thought possible. I was so nervous about posting such a controversial and honest commentary so when it went viral it was the ultimate reassurance and reminder that being yourself and taking risks pays off. It was my super exciting 15 minutes of editorial fame. Now, excuse me as I fade further into obscurity. If you were stuck on an island and you had to choose pizza or mac and cheese, what would it be?Mac and Cheese, absolutely.Nsync or Backstreet Boys? Backstreet Boys. I’m an avid boy-band enthusiast so I love them both dearly. I recently re-discovered my old Backstreet Boys “Millennium” album and still knew every single world to every single song. To this day, the very best Christmas gift I’ve ever gotten was nosebleed tickets to their tour. I had to use binoculars to see them. It was magical.Â
Favorite episode of Friends and why?Other than the Thanksgiving episodes (because, c’mon, that’s a given) I would have to say The One With The Embryos. Doesn’t get much better than the Friends answering trivia questions about each other for the apartment.Favorite Her Campus memory?Just recently, actually. The Her Campus Southern Tour was the perfect way to close out my time with HCUCF. I’ve been surrounded by such an incredible team and support system with our exec board so it was awesome to spend time together and happy cry all day. I was blown away by the ridiculous turn-out and getting such positive feedback on what we do. Â
Who is your role model?I have a lot of amazing people in my personal life that I really admire and look up to. As far as “role model”, I’ve always admired just genuinely funny, independent, brilliant women. I was obsessed with Lucille Ball as a child. That’s kind of transformed into an intense appreciation for people like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Â
Describe yourself in three wordsPositive. Genuine. Quirky. Â
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?A passport with a lot of stamps, a happy heart and some lovely people to share it with.Â
Favorite part about being Editor-in-Chief of Her Campus?I feel like Her Campus UCF has been my baby. This baby who has grown up to be way cooler and way better than I could/would ever be. I’ve so loved working with this team of talented, diverse and creative individuals. My favorite part of what I got to do as Editor-in-Chief was just being able to be there to encourage, inspire and push our team to grow, excel and gain confidence in their voice.
