We all know that UCF has a beautiful and sunny campus, and it’s really hard to escape from the Florida sun as we walk from building to building throughout the day. With this in mind, the first thing we want to put on in the morning to avoid feeling uncomfortable during the day is a pair of shorts. But ladies, we need to remember we’re on a college campus, where we mingle with cute guys but also run into plenty of professionals that might even hold an opportunity for your future. You don’t want to be caught wearing Daisy Duke looking shorts, because they can give off an unprofessional look. When we’re working our style on campus, remember to stay classy and cool with these three easy tips on how to look cute and professional in shorts.
First, pay attention to the material of the shorts. Stay away from denim and wear shorts that are have a more tailored look, like cotton and polyester. These shorts are more professional because they give a clean-cut look, much like a pair of dress pants. They are still comfortable with breathable fabric and they won’t ride up your bottom.
Second, remember the 3 Cs. Completely Cover your Cheeks! Unlike your beach shorts, keep a of couple inches on the hem, because even when you sit, you don’t want your whole leg showing. Wear shorts that are mid-thigh to keep it a little more conservative. If you have to constantly keep pulling your shorts down, then they might be too short.
Third, style it up! Collect tailored shorts that come in cute colors. For spring, light pastel colors are the best, such as lavender, light pink, yellow, and shades of blue. Finish up the professional look with a collared shirt, or a plain fitted V-neck that is tucked in. Wear a belt to keep those cute shorts in place and to have a crisp look. Shoes that are best for walking around campus with this look can be nude flats or even a one- to two-inch wedge shoe to give some length and height to your legs, especially if you’re on the short side. Dress it up with a blazer or pearl studs for a girlie touch.
With these tricks you can put together an outfit that will beat the heat while you stay cute and classy on a professional college campus.
