Julien Meyer: Business Extraordinaire

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

As college students, it’s almost impossible for the majority of us to balance our school work, social lives, jobs, and career paths. But at the age of 20, this week’s campus celebrity has mastered each perfectly.

With the start of his own company, collegeTKTS, Julien Meyer gave college students a service that provided the best discounts to local bars, clubs, and restaurants, among much more. After purchasing CollegeStack, every student’s favorite coupon book, Meyer has taken control of virtually every market and created a great name for himself. On top of all that, he is still busy living his life as a college student…Did I mention he is only 20?

Do you have a nickname? Yes, Juelz.

Q: About collegeTKTS:
A: CollegeTKTS LLC is a marketing firm that services the hospitality and nightlife industries in Orlando, FL, specifically in the UCF area. We recently acquired College Stack and CollegeStack.com, the coupon book company which produces the bimonthly coupon publication College Stack; a book with multiple savings to UCF area restaurants and activities. In addition, www.collegeTKTS.com will provide discounts to restaurants, activities, events and nightlife in the UCF area to college students. Our goal is to help college students make the most of their college experience by being able to try new things, (food, activities, nightlife) and save money while doing so.

Q: How did you become involved with CollegeStack?
A: Approximately 3 months ago I sat down with the owner of College Stack, Matthew Ockwell, to possibly collaborate since we were in similar fields of business. Mr. Ockwell proceeded to ask me if I was interested in acquiring College Stack and after 3 months of negotiations we finally reached an agreement on Jan. 11, 2013 and collegeTKTS now owns College Stack. Students do not need to worry about their beloved coupon publication going away, collegeTKTS will keep producing College Stack coupon books and we will be adding additional coupons to the next books to help students save even more money at even more restaurants, venues and activities around campus!

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: Almost nobody knows that I am writing a book on motivation and entrepreneurship. Also, I speak fluent French and Spanish and also know basic Russian and Mandarin Chinese.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: DJ, Play Guitar/Drums/Piano, Go Snowboarding, Travel – I love to travel and take spontaneous trips as often as I can. I’ve been to France, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Austria, California, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, New York, Toronto, Quebec, and more throughout the years. I love being spontaneous by going new places and trying new things.

Q: What is your dream career? Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?
A: My dream career is to one day own and operate a chain of hotels and resorts. I’ve always known that I’ve wanted to own hotels since I was a little boy and have not given up that dream. I plan on being a career entrepreneur and advancing towards my goals each and every single day. In five years, I see myself still heading collegeTKTS LLC and advancing the company forward and bringing discounts to even more schools. In ten years, I believe that collegeTKTS LLC and collegeTKTS.com will be nationwide and all college students will have the opportunity to save money and have new experiences through the money we can save them with collegeTKTS.com.
