Although you may not recognize his name or face, if you’re a UCF student, you probably already know more about senior Matt Anderson than you realize. Or, better yet, you’ve probably had his desserts.
Matt Anderson, 21, is the co-founder of Midknight Munchies, a late night baked goods delivery service in the UCF area that took the campus by storm last semester. He’s a brother of the Theta Chi Fraternity who loves sports and house music, and he’s a perfect fit for our first Campus Cutie of the 2013 year. So we sat down with Matt to talk about cookies, baseball, and, you guessed it, girls.
So how did Midknight Munchies start? Well I used to work for Party Tutor, my role model was Brent Henderson who runs Party Tutor here. Him and I went to UF to promote and were hungry one night and saw the idea. We decided to bring it back to UCF, but he said he was too busy with Party Tutor and didn’t have time to do it. So he introduced me to his roommate, Allan Adzima, who’d subconsciously had the same idea as well.
Wow. Yeah, so we met each other and within the first couple days started running with the idea and it’s been a pretty big success so far.
Yeah, I’d say so! So, this might be bad, but I’ve never ordered. Can you tell me how it works? We’ve recently closed the deal where we have a spot right next to the Knights Pub, it should be all finished in about a week. So you can either call in, order through the app on your phone, the website, or through our Facebook page, and now you have the option of picking it up or eating in the store.
So what are you thinking after graduation? Whew! That’s a hard question. Well we’ve been pretty successful here with the business so far so our ultimate goal is to expand to different universities, there’s a lot of universities that don’t have [Midknight Munchies] and it obviously works. So it all depends on if we decide we want to franchise out and expand to other schools, if not and we decide we want to hand it off after we graduate then we’ll sell to someone else and then I would love to go into sports marketing because that is my passion.
Awesome! So what do you like about UCF? I love UCF. There were other schools I got into but when I visited UCF I just fell in love. I love everything about it, when you walk through the campus everyone gets along so well. There’s a lot of good night life around here, good people…you can’t go wrong with food, you can pretty much walk anywhere! There really isn’t anything I dislike about UCF.
Any hobbies outside of Midknight Munchies? Well I love to play sports, I played baseball my whole life. I had the opportunity to play Division I baseball but I ended that because I realized it wasn’t my passion. But I love sports, I play intramurals. I love being with my fraternity, I live at the Theta Chi house. And, I’m not gonna lie, I love going out.
Alright so now we’re gonna get into the real questions, the girl questions. Can you describe your ideal date? My ideal date? Wow. I guess it would probably be to go a baseball game with a girl who loves sports, a girl who loves sports is an automatic turn-on for me. If you can speak the language of sports you have me, 100%. So I guess I’d like to go out to a baseball game then after just go to a nice dinner.
