My fellow collegiettes, may I go out on a limb here and say that those four (sometimes 5) years we have with total independence and little responsibility are the most unique, carefree and dare I say it- the best stage in our lives? Now I can’t predict how my future is going to unfold. Maybe I’ll be a multimillionaire, maybe I’ll get to hold my grandchild, maybe I’ll travel the world once I’m retired. What I’m trying to say is that I don’t know if life gets better, but what I do know is that we are all so extremely fortunate to receive a college experience. Life is too damn short. YOLO it out.. (yea “YOLO” was appropriate for this context. I promise it wont happen again.)
Now, my fellow Knights. Graduation is coming around the corner whether it’s a semester or 3 years away. As an upperclassman, freshman year seems like it was a blink ago. So the moral of the story is.. live up everyday to it’s fullest potential. Make sure to study hard, but also make the most out of your years here at the University of Central Florida. After all, these might be the only years we can get away with binge eating a slice of pizza the length of your forearm after a night out.
- Grab a beer at one of the restaurants on campus. Maybe we should save that one after classes are done for the day.
- Morning Stadium runs
- Attend a baseball game
- Spend a serene day at Lake Claire. How lucky are we to have a facility where we can rent paddleboards and kayaks at a flick of our Student id
- Play a game of quidditch. I know I’m not the only one who’s seen a bunch of muggles running around memory mall in hopes of scoring goals and catching the golden snitch. https://www.facebook.com/UcfQuidditch You’re Welcome.
- Walk the boardwalk. My favorite area on campus
- Run around Gemini. A perfect 5k.
- Lawn movie. I love when SGA sets up a movie night for all students
- Karaoke at Amigos. I mean, I’m always up for a good ol’ serenade of Elton John, but add a $1 Margarita special to the mix and you have my heart.
- Relay for life. Camp out all night on memory mall for a great cause!
- Indulge in Lazy Moon. A slice might be the size of a small human, but this dive is one unique staple of our college town.
- Market Day at the Student Union. Whether it’s honey, organic veggies, a vacation or some ripped trendy shorts. What other school sets up a shopping spree in their student union every Wednesday?!
- Study on the 4th floor of the lib. Half the struggle is trying to remain quite when turning pages in your book or typing away on your laptop. SHHHH!
- Spin class at the gym
- Dance marathon. Standing for hours and dancing the night away, what an opportunity to share with your fellow nights. It’s for the kids
- Get caught behind the finger scan at the gym. Yes I go here, and I will barge through if I get a red blinky light!
- Habaneros monster margaritas. College is the only appropriate time to eat your weight equally in salsa and chips, along with a margarita that could quench the thirst of a small village.
- Rock climbing at the gym. How cool is UCF?
- A night out at Knights Library. How clever of them to name a bar to convince our parents that we’re studious.
- Tailgate memory mall. Seniors if you haven’t already done this, shame on you.
- Visit the skate shop in the Breezeway.Â
- Math-lab. If you haven’t had to finish up an obligatory 3 hour session in the Math lab, you’re not a real Knight.
- Liquor pitcher Wednesdays. Where else do they serve a beverage in a sand-castle pale for the free? Only Knight Library
- Sus-Hi in between Happy Hour. “Firrrrreeee!”
- Yum Yum cupcake truck in between classes. Nothing brings a little sunshine to your day like a little treat for finishing up classes. On campus every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 2:30pm near the Burnetts Honors College and Visual Arts Building.Â
- Get a massage in the Student Union. How lucky are we to have a SGA organize free massages in the Student Union during Finals Week?
- Football Game.. duh. If you haven’t been to a football game, I’m not a fan of yours. This is the ultimate experience of college
- Circle the UCF parking lot and become significantly late to class
- Spirit Splash, given.
- Have a mini anxiety attack when skateboarders come your way.
- Step on the Pegasus in the Student Union (Only once graduation is in the clear).
