2020 is the year of travel (I’m speaking that into existence). I’ve spent my fair share of time planning out hypothetical trips that I would take “one of these days” but never have. This year, I’m going to change that. Traveling can get expensive and time-consuming, but the right location is close enough for a quick weekend getaway and won’t completely break the bank.Â
Â
- Atlanta, Georgia
-
Not only are there endless things to do as a tourist in Atlanta, but quick flights from Florida are relatively inexpensive. Most of the time, you’ll be able to purchase a round trip ticket for less than $100. Once you’re there, housing is easy. I pretty much use Airbnb for any trip I take, and Atlanta has tons of options for under $100.Â
As far as activities go, you have a lot of options. Atlanta offers an upscale metropolis city and you’ll find breathtaking hikes in the north Georgia mountains. For your day in the city, I recommend doing some shopping and eating at the Ponce City Market and walking down the Atlanta Beltline.
- Asheville, North Carolina
-
Talk about beautiful. Asheville is the place to go if you’re looking to do some outdoor adventuring (or drink a lot of local beer!). North Carolina is known for its beautiful waterfalls, making Asheville a great place to spend a day white water rafting or hiking through the mountains.
Coming in at just over 45 square miles, Asheville is small enough that you can stay downtown and still have easy access to the breathtaking nature surrounding the city. Again, Airbnbs are easy to come by in Asheville. There are also campgrounds that offer cabins, yurts and tent sites at affordable nightly rates.
- Miami, Florida
-
With summer just around the corner, it’s almost time to get started on our tans. What better place to lay on the beach and soak up the (brutally) hot Florida sun than Miami? For those of us in Orlando, Miami is about a three-hour drive and just close enough to turn our weekend trip into a day trip if we have to.
The city of Miami is rich in culture and art. After the beach, visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and grab dinner in the Art Deco district. Miami’s nightlife is well-known by many, so if you are looking for a night out on the town, look no further!
- Savannah, Georgia
-
There’s no place like Savannah, with its picture-perfect scenery and rich history. Obviously, a ghost tour is a must when visiting Savannah, but you can also explore the city’s beautiful architecture and take in some southern hospitality at a classic Savannah bed and breakfast.Â
A short 20-minute drive from the historic district will lead you to Tybee Island, one of Georgia’s picturesque beaches (that probably deserves a whole weekend to itself).Â
A peaceful weekend in Savannah will make you feel like you’re in your own Hallmark movie and give you more than enough opportunities to beautify your Insta feed.
Ladies, we’re manifesting this year. Get that tan, take that trip and go on that adventure because let’s face it, our bucket lists aren’t getting any shorter.Â
