Let’s be honest; finding a place to study on campus can be tricky. Sometimes there are a lot of people around, and it’s hard to find a space for yourself. Personally, I need the vibes to be just right, so I can properly work. I can’t work in a loud room, especially if a lot of people will be there. At UCF, there are some great locations to study at, and there are some that I would avoid forever. Here are my five UCF study spots ranked from best to worst.

John C. Hitt Library

The perfect place to study at UCF is John C. Hitt Library. First, it’s a gorgeous building. Second, they just opened the third floor of the library, and it is stunning. The whole level has been redone, and now there is a stained-glass wall, the perfect sight for sore eyes after staring at your laptop for hours. There are five floors in the library; the lower levels are more relaxed, and people chat more, while the higher levels are quieter and allow for intense studying. I am always able to find a space to study, and if I want, I can book a study room. This is perfect for midterm season.

Reflection pond

When the weather is nice, the Reflection Pond is a great place to study. You get to sit on the grass and there are enough trees to give shade. The sound of the water from the pond is a great ambiance to help you focus. It never gets too noisy over there because people are usually just passing by to get to class. It also never gets too crowded on the lawn to pick a spot. Sunset is the perfect time to be at the Reflection Pond. I love it when the weather changes during this time of day; I feel like I’m the most productive.

Burnett Honors College

A little secret many people don’t know is that UCF has a koi pond right outside the Burnett Honors College. There is a whole pathway with chairs and umbrellas to cover the seating; this leads up to the koi pond. It is such a peaceful area to study in because there’s not a lot of traffic flow from students. It’s surrounded by greenery, so it feels very Zen. I love to come here when I need to study or if I just want some peace.

All Knight Study

Studying inside All Knight Study is great because it’s so similar to a library setting. There are lots of rooms and spaces for students to fill. It’s mostly a quiet environment as people go there to get their homework done. Just like a library, there are computers to use and study rooms to reserve. The only problem I’ve noticed with All Knight Study is getting a spot. It can be pretty busy in this building, with lots of students wanting to find the same study spot.

Student union

I will never study at the Student Union. In my opinion, this is the worst place to study. It gets way too busy inside this building. Its so loud in the Student Union you can’t hear your own thoughts. This place is great if you’re looking for help with student government or want to get food because they have so many restaurants. But to study? Absolutely not.
